While designing the KRAs / KPIs - one of the things that provided me with a solid impact with the business was to have Linked KRAs..
So I started with Year Business Goals, with the CEO, who cascaded it to the Sales Team > Supply Chain + Enabling Functions.
The support required for achieving the goals of the Foremost Department (CEO), would be the KRA / KPI of the Linked Department (Sales).
KRAs can have Lead or Lag Indicators - A proactive PMS ensures that we track Lead Indicators wherever possible - so that action can be taken to achieve the goals, rather than analyzing why certain things could not be achieved.
So 2 key take aways -
1. Have completely linked KRAs of all departments.
2. Try having Lead Indicators wherever possible.
