New TFOS site just dropped
# forum

Well I wasn't anticipating this to take the entire week, but I have made some much-needed updates to both my publishing setup and the website: https://tfos.co/ Next week, back to your regularly scheduled productivity (In seriousness, I do think this is one of those important-but-not-urgent things)
Now I must resist the temptation to tweak things I'm also not even gonna try loading it on safari/ios. if it doesn't work, I don't wanna know
l
||on ios, scrolling glitches the background to white briefly before settling once scrolling stops|| ||…i am so sorry||
j
mm, guess the background image hack thing doesn't work there
there was a similar issue previously on Android Firefox
I think I can fix that with a workaround
l
and Safari is really the worst of them all — a whole hour of my day off today was spent fighting the (turns out) unsupported line clamp feature in WebKit. So I feel ya. update: nope it’s my fault because it’s also broken in chromiums yayy
j
ouch. I think there is some way to make line clamp work there? at least tailwind has some classes for line clamp and I'm assuming they work on safari
l
turns out i win the derp award; line-clamp utilities debuted in Tailwind 3.3 and i didn’t bump my version or even bother to check. Was really excited to at least make a post in #biff about it but doesn’t even seem worth it now 😅
j
haha at least you know now!
l
wrt the new site design, though, i appreciated the more organized approach to viewing the past essays — i’d never read “I can’t believe I’m going to write another dumb webapp” and quite enjoyed the tone 🙃
j
ah yes--a much less formal tone than the main pages on the site too :). (It just kinda came out that way; a result of trying to keep it succinct I guess. I tried to balance it out with the dad jokes on the about me page)
