It is a spree fork. What makes it better or different than spree?

It is managed by a group of retailers and agencies, rather than a single company. Essentially we chose to take the project a slightly different direction after the demise of Spree Commerce, the original company behind Spree. Solidus has focused more on extension points, ease of upgrade, the permissions system, and an event system. There are many more subtle differences, but that's the basic idea.

@Umair Ali Spree is basically a "fork" of itself. Solidus is the original Spree with the original community that built Spree. Just drama caused by Spreecommerce getting sold to FirstData and some no names getting ahold of Spree.

The new owners of Spree have a track record of doing things like writing case studies on Solidus stores and claiming they are Spree stores, so they don't necessarily have a ton of good will around here, as evidenced by Ben's tone there. He's not wrong that much of the original community continued on under the Solidus banner, though.

Oh yes, the case study. When they did a case study for Bevv as a Spree store and I had to let people know: no, we are not on Spree.
