 Based on the available sources, Telnyx is not currently supported for SMS capabilities with Retell AI [(1) ](<https://docs.retellai.com/deploy/enable-sms>) .

SMS capabilities are available for Retell Twilio numbers and custom telephony numbers that have passed A2P applications . The documentation specifically states that "Telnyx is not supported yet" .

To use SMS with Retell AI, you'll need to:

1. Use Retell Twilio numbers, or
2. Bring your own Twilio number that has completed the A2P (Application-to-Person) registration process 

For voice calls, you can still connect Telnyx numbers to Retell AI using elastic SIP trunking [(2) ](<https://docs.retellai.com/deploy/telnyx>) , but SMS functionality is not available through Telnyx at this time [(1) ](<https://docs.retellai.com/deploy/enable-sms>) .
