@AI Evy I have a Conversational Flow with a ton of Global Nodes. If a user in a sentence asks 2 questions, is there a way to prioritise on global node over the other?

Thanks for tagging me @Ciaran. I'll look through relevant sources and get back to you shortly.
### Answer Based on the available documentation, there isn't explicit information about prioritizing one global node over another when a user asks multiple questions in a single sentence. [(1) ]() However, you can add multiple Go Back Conditions to global nodes and reorder them by dragging, which suggests some level of condition ordering exists within individual nodes. For managing transitions more effectively when dealing with multiple global nodes, consider: 1. Refine your transition conditions - Make them more specific to reduce overlap between global nodes. The documentation recommends reviewing transition conditions to ensure they precisely match intended triggers. [(2) ]() 2. Add transition finetune examples - Provide examples to help the model understand when each global node should be activated. 3. Use the Prevent Immediate Re-Trigger feature - This pauses a global node for a specified number of node steps after it's been triggered, which could help manage competing global nodes. [(1) ]() If you need more granular control over global node priority that isn't currently available, I'd recommend checking the [Debug guide]() for troubleshooting transition issues or reaching out to support for guidance on your specific use case.

@AI Evy How can I make one Global Node prioritise over another?
a
Thanks for the follow-up, @Ciaran. I'll get back to you soon.
### Answer Based on the available documentation, there isn't a built-in feature to explicitly prioritize one global node over another in Conversation Flow. [(1) ]() Global nodes can be transitioned to from anywhere in the conversation flow, and they work by matching conditions you define (like "When user indicates this is not a good time to continue") . However, the documentation doesn't specify how the system handles priority when multiple global nodes could potentially match the same user input. What you can do to manage global nodes more effectively: 1. Make your conditions more specific - Craft distinct, non-overlapping conditions for each global node to reduce ambiguity when the user asks multiple questions. 2. Add Global Node Examples - Use the "+ Add" feature to create example conversations that demonstrate scenarios where each global node should or should not be activated. This helps the AI better understand when to jump to each specific global node. 3. Use Prevent Immediate Re-Trigger - Enable this feature to pause a global node for a specified number of node steps after it has been triggered, which can help prevent one global node from dominating. If you need explicit priority control between global nodes that isn't currently available, I'd recommend visiting the [Documentation]() or contacting a [certified Retell partner]() for guidance on your specific use case.

@AI Evy I think I might either have to add Global Node Examples or Tighten the prompts. The prompt is 'The user is asking why we have the prescription'. I think we need to say something like 'The user is ONLY asking why we have the prescription'. Here's the user sentence: Hi. I'm just wondering. My has come through to your pharmacy, and I I belonged to X Pharmacy. I'm don't know how much can to leave. Would you mind transferring it to X Pharmacy please?

### Answer Your approach is on the right track. Based on the user sentence you shared, the user is actually asking for a prescription transfer, not asking "why we have the prescription." Tightening your prompt conditions is definitely one recommended solution. Two effective strategies: 1. Tighten your transition conditions - The documentation recommends reviewing transition conditions to ensure they precisely match intended triggers, and consider breaking down complex conditions into multiple simpler ones. [(1) ]() Your idea to add "ONLY" or make the condition more specific (like "The user is asking why we have their prescription and NOT requesting any other action") would help prevent false matches. 2. Add Global Node Examples - You can add example conversations to help the AI better understand when to jump to each global node. Click "+ Add" to create examples that demonstrate scenarios where the global node should or should not be activated. [(2) ]() For your case, you could add: - **Should activate**: "Why do you have my prescription?" - **Should NOT activate**: "My prescription came through to your pharmacy, would you mind transferring it to X Pharmacy?" The Debug guide specifically recommends adding transition finetune examples when node transitions aren't working as expected. [(1) ]() Given that your user's sentence contains multiple intents (confusion about pharmacy + transfer request) , making your conditions more precise will help the model distinguish between different global nodes. **

@AI Evy Can you give me examples please? Return to spine: User wants to return their prescription to spine, release their prescription or to transfer their prescription to another pharmacy Why have you got the Prescription: The user is asking why we have their prescription and NOT requesting any other action

Thanks for the follow-up, @Ciaran. I'll get back to you soon.
### Answer Based on your two global nodes, here are example conversations you can add to help the AI distinguish between them: Global Node 1: "Return to spine" - **Condition**: User wants to return their prescription to spine, release their prescription or to transfer their prescription to another pharmacy Should activate examples: [(1) ]() - "Can you transfer my prescription to Boots Pharmacy?" - "I need to release my prescription back to spine" - "Please send my prescription to another pharmacy" - "I'd like to move my prescription to X Pharmacy" - "Can you return my prescription to the NHS system?" Should NOT activate examples: - "Why do you have my prescription?" - "How did my prescription end up at your pharmacy?" - "I'm confused about why you received my prescription" --- Global Node 2: "Why have you got the Prescription" - **Condition**: The user is asking why we have their prescription and NOT requesting any other action Should activate examples: - "Why do you have my prescription?" - "How did you get my prescription?" - "I don't understand why my prescription came to you" - "Why was my prescription sent to your pharmacy?" Should NOT activate examples: - "My prescription came through to your pharmacy, can you transfer it to X Pharmacy?" - "I need to move my prescription to another pharmacy" - "Please release my prescription back to spine" - "Can you send my prescription somewhere else?" The key is making the "Should NOT activate" examples for each node mirror the "Should activate" examples of the other node. This helps the AI learn the distinction between a simple question about why you have the prescription versus an actual transfer request. [(1) ]() [(2) ](
