@AI Evy I’m currently running inbound voice calls through Twilio Elastic SIP Trunking into a Retell agent. All of our customers are based in South Africa and are calling a South African Twilio number that is configured to our Retell agent. Right now our SIP setup is: Twilio Elastic SIP Trunk (US1) Origination SIP URI: sip:sip.retellai.com;transport=tcp Twilio routing region: United States (US1) Transport: TCP Symmetric RTP: enabled This setup is working correctly, but we’re consistently seeing ~2–3 seconds of latency before the agent starts speaking, which is noticeable for callers. We attempted switching Twilio routing to Ireland (IE1) to reduce geographic distance, but inbound calls fail unless US1 routing is used. That suggests Retell is currently only reachable via a US-based SIP ingress. Question: Do you offer (or plan to offer) a region-local SIP ingress and media edge for Europe (e.g., Ireland) or Africa that we can target from Twilio to reduce latency for South African callers? Specifically: Is there a region-specific SIP URI we should be using (e.g., something like sip:ie.sip.retellai.com;transport=tcp)? If so, what is the correct SIP URI and transport to use? Are there any required IP whitelisting, TLS/SRTP requirements, or trunk settings changes for a non-US SIP edge? Once available, would the correct Twilio configuration be: Switch Twilio routing region to IE1 Update the Origination SIP URI to the region-local Retell SIP endpoint Keep transport as TCP (or TLS if required)? Our goal is to minimize time-to-first-audio for inbound calls from South Africa. I would love to know what my options are and how I can go about this. Thankyou very much!

### Answer Based on the available documentation, Retell AI currently provides a single SIP server URI for all regions:
sip:sip.retellai.com
[(1) ]() ## Current SIP Configuration Details The documented SIP infrastructure includes: - **SIP server URI**:
sip:sip.retellai.com
- **IP block for traffic**:
18.98.16.120/30
(All regions) ,
143.223.88.0/21
(certain United States traffic) ,
161.115.160.0/19
(certain United States traffic) **Supported transports**: - TCP (Recommended) - UDP - TLS For different transports, you can postpend the transport method: - TCP:
sip:sip.retellai.com;transport=tcp
- UDP:
sip:sip.retellai.com;transport=udp
- TLS:
sip:sip.retellai.com;transport=tls
## Regarding Region-Specific SIP Endpoints I don't have information in the available sources about region-specific SIP URIs (such as
ie.sip.retellai.com
or similar European/African endpoints) . The documentation only references the single global SIP server address. Your observation that calls fail when using IE1 routing aligns with the fact that the documented IP blocks appear to be US-based. ## Recommendations Since the sources don't document regional SIP endpoints or plans for them, I'd suggest: 1. Contact Retell AI directly at support@retellai.com to inquire about regional SIP ingress availability or roadmap 2. Check out Retell AI's telephony partners like [Jambonz]() or [Cloudonix]() , which can manipulate SIP call flow and may offer regional routing options Would you like a general answer about potential latency optimization strategies, or would you prefer to reach out to Retell AI support for specifics on regional infrastructure?

Thanks for the feedback, glad I was helpful.

@AI Evy What would you suggest to reduce latency since from my research I understand changing my origination URI to an eu based server like Ireland and changing my routing region to ireland I can reduce latency for my inbound voice agent in Retell?

Thanks for the follow-up, @.sundancekid.. I'll get back to you soon.
### Answer Unfortunately, the available documentation does not describe region-specific SIP URIs for Europe or Africa. Retell AI currently provides a single global SIP server:
sip:sip.retellai.com
[(1) ]() ## What the Documentation Shows for Latency Optimization Retell AI's architecture achieves low latency through: [(2) ]() - Real-time speech recognition that processes audio streams as they arrive - Optimized LLM routing with direct connections to language models - Edge computing with distributed processing - Predictive response generation that begins formulating responses before the user finishes speaking Production voice AI agents typically aim for 800ms or lower latency to maintain conversational flow. [(3) ]() ## Suggestions Given Current Constraints Since regional SIP endpoints are not documented: 1. Use a localized termination URI near your region when configuring Twilio—the documentation mentions this as a troubleshooting step for outbound issues. [(4) ]() 2. Consider Retell AI's telephony partners such as [Jambonz]() or [Cloudonix]() , which can manipulate SIP call flow and may offer regional routing options. [(1) ]() 3. Verify your Twilio configuration doesn't have any spaces in the Termination SIP URI. [(4) ]() 4. **Contac
t Retell AI directly** to inquire about regional infrastructure availability—this information isn't covered in the sources I have access to. Would you like me to provide a general answer about SIP latency optimization strategies beyond what's documented for Retell AI specifically?
