### Answer You can enable Vocabulary Specialization when creating or updating a Voice Agent using the
vocab_specialization
parameter. [(1) ]() [(2) ]() Available options: -
general
(default) -
medical
Important: This setting only applies to English agents. For non-English agents, this setting is a no-op. Via API (JavaScript example) :
Copy code
javascript
import Retell from 'retell-sdk';
const client = new Retell({
  apiKey: 'YOUR_RETELL_API_KEY',
}) ;
const agentResponse = await client.agent.update('16b980523634a6dc504898cda492e939', { vocab_specialization: 'medical' }) ;
[(1) ]() Via Dashboard: Navigate to Transcription Settings → Vocabulary Specialization and select
Medical
. [(3) ]() Note: There's a known UI behavior where after publishing, the new draft may appear to revert to
general
, but the published version retains the
medical
setting. You can verify this via the [Get Agent Versions API]() .

### Answer ### Answer For Agent Import, Retell AI supports importing agents via JSON files. [(1) ]() [(2) ]() Based on community discussions, when importing an agent: - The file format must be JSON [(1) ]() - The JSON structure must be valid—common issues include using empty arrays
[]
instead of empty objects
{}
for certain fields like
headers
,
query_params
, and
response
variables in functions - For tools like "Wait", parameters must be formatted as an object [(2) ]() If you encounter errors during import (such as "Parameters must be object") , review your JSON file to ensure all tool configurations use the correct format.
