Hi, I was wondering if you need an engineering degree to get international remote jobs? I've a 3 year degree and am under the impression that most people here who are working remotely have BTech/BE CSE? Anyone who got in without BTech/BE?

Well in the end your skills speak for itself! But everyone has their own struggles 🙂

Having a degree is always helpful for getting an employment visa. UAE also provides golden visa for coders on the basis of a degree.

@adorable-furniture-84197 visa? I'm speaking about remote jobs only, not on-site.

I know. You never know when you are going to need one. Remote work also opens up possibilities of working from anywhere. Not all countries have remote work visas and those who do come with a very high income requirement

It all depends on the company that you are looking at. I, for example, was not asked for a degree.

I don't have an engineering degree, only a 3 year Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with 1 year gap. But I had computers in school and by college days, in early 2000, was part of many open source organisations. I've been in startups ever since and I play team lead or CTO roles. I have lived in Germany, headed a startup there too. YMMV.

If you want to join an Indian company, most of them still demand that you have a degree.

I think it should only depend on your skills as opposed to what a piece of paper says. Also, if you are qualified for the job but aren't getting hired only because you don't have a degree, it probably isn't a company you want to work at anyway. All of this is from experience btw. I have no degree whatsoever and I have been fully remote since 2018 working with companies both inside and outside India.

I have a BTech degree certificate in Computer Science, that's one thing I have never used in my career till now. Build a good digital profile bro.

I got into tech without a degree but lot of it depends on qadr and as people say “luck” also this tweet resonates well 😅 https://twitter.com/sahilk/status/1515011894264070147
