Can someone please recommend Android smartphones under 40k? Willing to stretch my budget to 50k max if the phone is really good. I am thinking of getting the OnePlus 9RT, but not sure if it's a good idea to buy OnePlus given their recent stupid decisions.

OnePlus has flaws that appear after you start using them!
I've been using one since a year and a half now but I'm not really happy with the device

I'd also recommend you stay away from 1+ 😞
f
Yeah, their software experience has gone downhill after 7 series.

If you’re looking for a Stock Android device, Motorola’s Edge line is decent, sadly there aren’t many options besides Motorola and Samsung. https://www.flipkart.com/find-the-edge-fh54-fg54-store
l
I mean, come on! I'm actually confused that if I buy another device in near future, which company should I choose? Samsung has issues after a year's use. OnePlus has defects that appear after you use it regularly. iPhone needs you to sell your kidney! 😂😂 I don't prefer oppo, Vivo and other stuff like that!
f
Isn't Motorola's post sales service really bad in India? I remember reading somewhere that they scaled back aggressively

I purchased Realme GT Neo2 for my wife a month back. It's performance has been awesome. Do consider it.

They’ve been earning back customers due to timely updates and Stock Android (basically former OnePlus customers), so you may try it out. Personally, I’d have bought Android this year if Pixel 6 wasn’t a software mess (and was available in India), but given how Google’s own device is this bad, I’d wait for whatever next iPhone is and kiss Android goodbye for now.

Asus zenfone 8z is a decent buy. Its an year old product that launched in india only in Feb 2022. Near stock android, compact, decent camera.
g
I was planning to buy 8z from the past year. They launched it right after I booked S22. But I also heard concerning issues for 8z online. Just do a check for that. Apart from that, excellent option.
f
Oh btw, yes S22 combined with Samsung's Good Lock app is incredibly customizable.
a
Also, Iphone isn’t that expensive either. You can get iphone 13 mini (128GB) for around 60 k (after hdfc discount), In case you’re considering android because of the price. A15 bionic, great camera. Good thing about Iphones is the resale value.

Isn't the Nothing Phone (1) expected to be around this range? I'd suggest you wait if you can till June https://www.news18.com/news/tech/nothing-phone-1-launch-date-in-india-announced-flip[…]nothing-phone-1-specifications-and-other-details-4903472.html

Can't go wrong with a Samsung. That being said, the S22 has a tiny battery as it's a comparatively small device. S21 FE or A73. perhaps? Moto's new options look solid too.
g
S21FE was good. Used it for a month before jumping to S22. Tiny battery + Heating is a major problem. I'm not talking about heating when playing games, etc, even when just watching Youtube or randomly. If you can wait, see what Nothing is offering. Buds were a bit over hyped, but decent enough.
w
Similar experience on my S21. Tiny battery and heats up a little. I'd still take my S21 with a tiny form factor, light weight, and non-glass back over something hefty and fragile with a larger battery.
f
The whole Nothing event (where they just unveiled an app launcher, of all things 😂) was nothing but a cringe show, and given how their earphones have turned out, I'll advice not to hope much from that company.

Yeah, only reason I wanted 8Z and S22 were due to the size. Battery is a sacrifice for both. Only small phone with good battery is iPhone13 I guess. Yeah, every single youtuber was bashing nothing over the event. 😂
f
Also, iOS devices don't tend to slow down with OS and app upgrades (unless Apple chooses to deliberately do it 🧌), so it is better to buy a phone costing almost 1L and use it for over 5 years than to buy a 50k phone every 3 years, where you're still not guaranteed to receive OS updates on day one, camera stays sub-par, and last year of usage will be a slow device. Of course their asking price isn't for everyone.

Using one plus 8 since last 2 years, I am not happy with it.

I am waiting for Pixel 6a, its is rumoured to be launched in india, if it doesn’t launch in india will go with iphone 13 mini [ i have been avoiding iphone because of the ugly notch]

@salmon-processor-35222 pixel playing apple strategy pushing faulty updates and making your phone useless forcing you to buy new phone. I am using pixel 4a 5g revent update just made phone useless as phone keeps on hanging

I'm still holding on to my dying moto g6 plus, waiting for Fairphone to come to India

Galaxy A53 (2022).

One benefit of iPhone is that it retains value quite well, you'll get a decent amount when you go to sell it, even 4-5 years later.

Consider iqoo 9se and iqoo 9 they are definitely worth the price

I love how I asked this question to alleviate confusion and ended up getting more confused 😂

I have been using Redmi K20 for more that 2 years, I am pretty satisfied with this phone considering that it has an awesome display at that price range and a decent battery. I mainly use it for media consumption. But recently they downgraded Widevine license support, so not able to watch Netflix/Prime in HD. Already bought an iPhone 12 in last year's sale. But I am still using K20 as the primary device because of the display. I might end up using both until K20 dies I guess.

+1 for Galaxy A53. You get 4 Android OS updates, unheard of in Android world. Or if you are okay with buying 2nd hand, you can find a very lightly used S21 in that price. It will get updated till Android 15 + 1 more year of security updates, so it is a good buy even now.
