Hey Tribe, A friend who's an MBA wants to get started in Tech but I don't know what bootcamp to recommend to her. Do you have suggestions? She's looking for quality and I don't have good feedback of pesto.

May I recommend free resources? I highly vouch for theodinproject (1st) and freeCodeCamp (2nd). I derived immense value from them. The only criticism I have heard for them over paid courses is that since they are free, people may not feel as compelled to keep going at them. But that is entirely a self-discipline issue. Educational content wise they are totally amazing.

OT: Hey @quiet-midnight-20665, May I know the negative feedback about Pesto (preferably over a call) so that I can share it with the relevant team 😬

Hey @proud-article-43036 .. I'm not sure how beginner friendly these free platforms are. I mean, I did suggest her them but she's expressed she'd prefer something more engaging. The thing is, you need to have some sense of computers for theodinproject and FCC to make sense. She has absolutely no idea whatsoever and she said it'd help her knowing she can ask questions and have them answered right there from a tea person.

Frontend Masters remains the best resource for all things JavaScript.

Hi @calm-grass-85557 , sure. 😇

For absolute intros, maybe CS50 can help. I started learning about programming and CS from CS50.

I came from non-tech background and for me teamtreehouse subscription was worth it. Not sure what has changed now but checkout their techdegree program which is interactive, self-paced and project based. Also can vouch for CS50, FCC, Scrimba, Udemy but depends on people’s taste. Frontendmasters is more for an intermediate level and wouldn’t recommend for a beginner. Although they recently started a beginner friendly bootcamp but that didn’t had much traction.

TeamTreeHouse looked the most promising. They are advertising a demo call but they don't want you to be able to actually book that call cuz when you try doing that, before you confirm, they'd forcefully send you back. She tried. I tried on my device. Someone here try setting up a demo call with TeamTreeHouse too, please. I want to know that we were not doing it right and not team tree house forcing us to pay and not booking the demo call otherwise.

@quiet-midnight-20665 that seems like they are focussing on marketing right now. Heard that company restructuring was happening under a new CEO. I wouldn’t consider demo call. Just check for the 7 days trial and try to see if that fits the taste. And then consider paying. Thats what worked for me atleast.
