Have you considered iPad, if not, you should. I was faced with a similar question last year, after enough reading I went for iPad Air 3 and it has definitely been a good decision.

If it’s in your budget, go for the Kindle Oasis. I have owned many Kindles and this one definitely is worth it. If not, then either the 10th Gen or the Paperwhite depending on your budget. I recently got a 2nd Kindle device for home - the 10th Gen and after using the Oasis, the missing 300 dpi is noticeable. Also, getting a good cover is very recommended. Reading on the iPad is good but the backlight is too bright and I have never been able to read more than 10-15m without getting irritated - specially in dim light in bed. That ways, a Kindle is a substantially better device for reading.

I have Kindle 10th gen and I absolutely love it! My requirement was that it should be back-lit so I can read when it's dark or travelling by night in a bus/train. And this suffices a lot. The text is clear, although it can't read comics well. I think Oasis /Paperwhite makes a good purchase if you are a comic fan, and love to read in swimming pools, for some reason. I agree with @loud-glass-33663 on iPad. It would be too bright for long reads, and I am not sure if the battery will last as long as Kindle's.

The same argument applies if you have a 4K monitor or an HD monitor. You don’t know what you are missing, until you try it out 😉

Actually, if you already have an iPad you can make the reading (and multimedia) experience much better by slapping on a matte screen protector. Switch to the dark reading in kindle app and it gets really close to emulating e-ink experience. That said, I still prefer a kindle because its a lot lighter and easier to handle for longer reading sessions. My hands start hurting after a while when I am reading on my iPad. If you are not in a hurry, I'd recommend waiting and be on lookout for sales. Usually you can get the kindle devices for almost 3k lower than the current price during sales

@loud-glass-33663 Completely agree. I bought a 27inch 4k monitor last week, was using 24inch 1080p before. The 4k monitor is a true joy to work on.

@wide-twilight-82330 How much is this? I really don't need an ipad now though
@loud-glass-33663 Haha agree. Try going 144Hz. You'll never see the same again I'm mostly going for the paperwhite, the thing is I like reading on my phone since I can take notes on keep and notion easily from the book. Is it possible to do it using the paperwhite?

@broad-camera-13514 you mean typing notes or just making notes in the book? I just save my notes on the book by highlighting it. That works on all kindles. I haven't tried typing in notes

@broad-camera-13514 I got it for 44k in Aug 2019
