What are you using for tracking your body? I use Mi Body Composition Scale to track body fat, muscle mass, bone density, etc but not sure if itโ€™s the most accurate. Any better ways to track?

body composition scales are pretty prone to errors. The best you can do is to measure with them at the same time of the day, but still the data is not that great. I have found dexa scans to be really good if you want to know the body composition. Its really accurate and gives you some more metrics. Not worth getting it very often but nice to get it done every once is a while. Its a little pricey though around 1.5-2.5k a scan. There is some more info here about body scans if you are interested https://www.webmd.com/diet/obesity/features/body-fat-measurements#1

@purple-animal-84963 where do you exactly get these dexa scans done?
p
@swift-pilot-25722 its available in almost any scan center which does MRI and its pretty common. You should be able to check out the prices and availablibity online too on practo and other places . Just search for "Dexa scan"

other than this, I have played around with a bunch of sensors over time. Fitbit is my goto these days to collect normal physical data. I use a polar H10 HR monitor to keep track of the exercise, how much I am straining and how much I have receovered. I also use the polar H10 to collect fine grained sleep data if I need it
I have tried using temp and spo2 sensors too to track sleep better, but didn;t help
then there is a regular full blood test which I get once every 6 months and my health insurance pays for it (I get it more often for any marker which is off by too much)
you should checkout https://quantifiedself.com/. Its a community of people who designing experiments, collecting data and converting it to resonable action for yourself
There forums are pretty nice too
a lot depends on what you are optimizing for and aiming for. Personally for me, experiments based around blood-work have given the best results more than any other parameter (the normal full body ones, or more frequent ones based on certain optimization or continous blood glocose monitoring to optimize what food works for me abd what doesn't)

Thanks @purple-animal-84963 for sharing your knowledge. TIL about dexa scan but it can be done twice an year.
