What's your hotstar streaming experience been like for live sports? I'm thinking of getting the hotstar subscription, mainly for Formula1 and Football (although they don't seem to have champs league football).
b
I subscribed to hotstar for watching premier league matches. Has been a good experience so far. No glitches wrt streaming/video quality.
m
Awesome, thanks for confirming. What are you doing for champs league games?
s
i got it from jio offer. it's good so far
c
Champions League is on SonyLiv
s
regular EPL watcher, no issues in hotstar and sonyliv for UCL, league cup, jiotv for rest football
big manchester derby semis tonight
m
What's on jiotv? La liga & serie A?
b
Hotstar is good ..I have it ...Champions League can be watched in Airtel Xtream (Sony I think) only In mobile - even though they have recently come up in Firestick (only movies)
m
I think hotstar is better than any other OTT platforms in india, way better than SONYLIV

Thanks everyone. Just got the hotstar subscription (RS 400/yr). Seem like great value for money. Meta: Content fragmentation is pretty bad on OTT platforms (e.g. some movies only on netflix, some sports only on hotstar, some series only on prime). This is only gonna get worse.
s
english leage cup, carabao cup - colors infinity etc and sony sports on jiotv
sonyliv replacement can be jiotv

I have the premium for Formula 1 as well. It has been a very good experience so far with FP Sessions, Quali and Races running smoothly barring a rare few hiccups. Overall a pretty good experience since 2019.

My colleague was telling how everyone was impressed by Hotstar's presentation and numbers at AWS Conclave at Las Vegas. Those IPL viewers numbers tho.
m
Yeah, their auto-scaling plans for peak traffic (e.g. IPL matches) is pretty impressive. But we digress. Topic for another day 😀
m
Yup. Also, anyone who has a Hotstar subscription, do watch the movie Soul. Highly recommended.
