I am a data analyst and I am planning to make a website to show my projects and portfolio. I also want to add a blog section where I can publish about my life, tech, projects etc. I want to know which tech stack would be good to make a website quickly?
h
I got a really good deal from Wix. The hosting is INR 348/year and it included a free domain name for a year.
f
You can also host your blog on github pages. Search for gitfolio on github.
b
You could use a CMS like WordPress, Ghost. If you want to do a some coding then check Hugo + Netlify. You can host the WordPress on multiple places

@hundreds-winter-88791 In the future I would like to add more features as well to get more traction. Would it be possible to do using Wix? I have heard no-code websites have limited features and they charge more for more features. Would love to hear your opinion on this.
@faint-energy-11966 Can I host my website as well? I am planning to make a website in which I will post my blogs as well.
@brash-monitor-80970, I will look into WordPress.

How "quickly" do you want to build it? Budget?
h
I think I got all the features that Wix has to offer on their platform for 348/year. These are more than I would need. Earlier, my only complaint with Wix was poor Page Speed Insights scores. But now, even that has improved significantly.
c
Well, before suggesting. Are you looking for any CMS or do you want code yourself?

I've made mine using a Gatsby template. Allows you to customise it any way you want if you know a little bit of React. Also good for adding SEO optimised blogs using Markdown. https://virajc.tech/ Hosted for free on Netlify.

@freezing-whale-32835 This is similar to what I am looking for and I don't mind little coding. Would like to connect with you If you have some free time.
@creamy-printer-42807 both would be but I guess CMS/No-code solutions will be expensive so coding will be better for me and also I will get to learn. @calm-animal-50725 Any coding solution that would be quick to learn and develop with a low budget will be up in a few weeks I will give 3-4 hours per day to code the website.
@hundreds-winter-88791 348/year with hosting, features, domain sounds very good. I will try the coding solution and If it doesn't work out then I will go with Wix. It's good to know other better options. Thanks a lot.

@strong-optician-91782 Sure, let's connect in DM. Can do a call later if needed.

Thanks. Check you DM.

Since you requirement is portfolio and blogging, you can go with static web frameworks. Few famous ones are Jekyll, Gatsby, Nextjs, Hugo etc. Most of the static websites can be hosted for free, like Github pages, Netlify and Vercel etc. And my personal suggestion will be GatsbyJs hosting on Netlify or Vercel, since it's more customizable. All you want is spend on your domain and decide which framework you want to learn. @strong-optician-91782

I see. Thanks a lot. Which check about this and get back to you. @freezing-whale-32835 also suggested Netlify and GatsbyJs.

@strong-optician-91782 Worth trying Webflow, Little Pricy but it has lots of functionalities
s
I will check it out. Thanks, @swift-microphone-91058

Webflow is easily the best platform to start since you need 0 coding knowledge and unlike wix or wordpress, it has lot more advantages provided natively so no headaches of installing plugins and worrying about the updates/security issues. Also you get a very good performance score in lighthouse, google pagespeed insights etc. BUT as @swift-microphone-91058 mentioned it comes with a price (starting from $12/mo) but it's worth it because you get cdn, and aws powered, everything comes natively. 🐕

Thanks, @creamy-dawn-73235 for the suggestion but as you mentioned its expensive so I will skip it for now but happy to know other options that I have.

WordPress has many benefits like (1) You can launch website within a day. (2)n number of plugins you can add remove any time. plugin for social sharing, seo, comments, footer, header, caching name a few. (3)Many hosting providers come with installed WordPress. with free one year domain, ssl certificate, backup, malware scanner etc.
