Hey tribe, If you are in a similar boat as the StackOverflow OP below, then you can find some useful pointers 👉 https://workplace.stackexchange.com/questions/173018/as-a-junior-is-it-unethical-to-leave-after-1-year-for-remote
    The context
1 year ago, after a Master's degree I had my first real web developer job in a great startup (~50 people) along two other juniors, we all were trained and were given a lot of resources (time to work on side projects, daily meetings & any resource we asked for) which I am very grateful for.
I always have been pretty autonomous but thanks to them I'm a much better developer.
For ~8 months we were all in remote.
    The problem
Today they want all of us to go back onsite which I don't find necessary, my question is: would be it very unethical for me to leave/threaten to leave right now for full remote?
    The details
They basically trained me and now that I'm a bit productive I'm threatening them to leave if they don't offer something full remote, in my mind it seems very unfair but objectively I know I can find a full remote job, it would make my life so much easier but I would lose a great environment. Also I live far from my workplace and I already asked my manager for that, but he didn't offer any solution.

Hey everybody! Hope you are doing great. Here is a small blurb by founders of below startup. They are building Decentralised University for Web 3.0. If you are interested in getting early access to be part of learning Web 3.0 by experts across the globe and get placed at Top Web 3.0 startups globally. Please DM me. Would love to send early invites given to me. We are a team of ex-Facebook, Google, Microsoft alums who have previously build and scaled a consumer internet startup to 10M users without spending marketing dollars and sold to another unicorn in the gaming space. We are currently building an invite-only decentralized university backed by Y Combinator, global unicorn CEOs across the US, India, etc. We have been inviting some selected candidates to be part of our early university access and help them to learn more about crypto and innovation in this space. We have experts who have been building in this space for the last 6-7 years from Valley, China, and other parts of the world. Let me know if you want to be part of our early access. I will put you in touch with my team to share small questionnaires to get this access.

Hey folks! 👋 Is anyone aware of any service which would pull out actual content from a web page automatically without me writing a scraper? (For this, let’s assume content like a single blog post or news article). I am aware of web scraping, Beautiful soup, etc. - but this requires more nuance. For example, if you look at this article: https://finshots.in/archive/videocon-saga/ I would be interested in getting the text from these lines:
    The Story
Before we get to the story, a brief introduction on how Videocon went from being pioneers to defaulters.
    till…
    Copy code
So yeah, with this, we have another successful bankruptcy resolution. But at this point you have to ask yourself — If this is what success looks like, where are we really headed eh?

    Until then…
Need not be perfect but hopefully should get us mostly there. Any ideas?

Hey folks, Two questions regarding cover letters (CL) during job-hunt - specifically wrt Indian firms 1. In your experience, how much of a difference does the CL make in the application? 2. Any specific cover letter best practices, resources that you might have found useful? My struggle is with adapting my CL to any cultural differences for Indian firms. Really appreciate all the gems of advice and lessons learnt from the tribe over time. Cheers

What is your go-to stack, service etc. if you want to have a quick and dirty backend POC up and running? I am mainly interested in backend / API services - whats your hosting, DB, language, any service that you use to get it going like repl.it, etc?

Has anyone here worked on implementing two-factor authentication in their services using an authenticator app (TOTP) and not SMS 2FA? I have to build this soon and it'd be great if someone has some pointers for do's and dont's.

Hi Everyone, I am planning to buy a laptop and looking for suggestions on what to buy. My first priority is good build quality and durability (I am not a rough user but I had a bad experience with a Dell Inspiron notebook some years back). It should be as light weight as is possible in it's segment and I'd prefer a 14 inch screen though not mandatory. This will mostly be used for work. I am a web dev so I won't be doing a lot of intensive computation as such. I'd also prefer an entry-level to good GPU so that I can do some occasional gaming. I'll be dual booting Windows + Linux and hence would prefer a laptop/config that plays nice with Linux. I had laid eyes upon the Dell Vostro 14 5410 (Because I assumed that the Vostro line up will have better build than the Inspiron line up), here I get a very basic Geforce MX250 (2GB), but I essentially give up the ability to do any decent gaming, and I am fine with that. I also came across the ASUS Zephyrus G14 which is a stretch on my budget but gets me all of the above with the sweetness of a decent GPU and scope for gaming (not sure of build quality and Linux compatibility though). I am not looking to go for an Macbook Air or Pro. I'd be grateful if you folks could drop some suggestions.
