Tribe, Small announcement and a big shoutout to @calm-grass-85557, @jolly-island-57985 and RI 🙏 I’ve recently signed a full time contract with remo.co. This wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. I have been a part of the community since an year now, the amount of knowledge and consciousness one could gain from RI is priceless (I’m sure almost every other post made across channels has something in store for someone ❤️). It’s very hard to settle for less along with consistent discomfort from the toxic work culture and pay I have been through in Consulting and Product companies across in non-remote jobs. With one of the best cultures I’ve ever experienced I could definitely say with current remote gig I overcame those issues i have faced. Excited about the future 🚀

Hey Tribe, I wrote a draft on Risk Taking and Ergodicity to caution folks against taking too much risk and driving themselves to ruin. A lot of people discount the fact that there are risks involved in working remotely. They look at folks who are doing well and feel they might be able to do the same. And as a community, we don’t want to give folks the wrong picture. Especially the young ones here. Feel free to edit the doc or leave comments on it 🙏

Hi team, need some help or suggestion from in technology side, Just  I connected with an entrepreneur who helping the society as a social cause(NGO) who lost the jobs due to Covid19. Initially, he used the free version tools, google forms and social media to collect the real data like JobSeeker and JobProvider (company and HR team) Surprisingly, they got a huge response from the victims! Now they are looking for some free tools to manipulate data like JOB portals (like sopping cart from WordPress for e-com) if you could suggest the tools is the great support for them

Hey tribe, @aloof-scientist-13139 and I are going to work this weekend on https://remoteindian.nolt.io/7 👷 The plan is to scrape the posts on #intro channel and store it on Hasura. And then we will consume the private Hasura api through a
    whois
bot on slack and a website (behind an auth). If you have concerns that this might be intrusive, please feel free to share your concern.

Hi tribe, I have a question. Do Indians really get remote jobs based on a non INR currency? If so, how? Looking for some guidance. Thank you.

I created a group for RemoteIndian users at LearnAwesome - this should be better than GoodReads groups as we can share reviews on not just books, but all kinds of links (articles, videos, podcasts, courses, newsletters etc) - as long as those are educational: https://learnawesome.org/users/8a16a2e4-dcb7-4167-a2a2-51d3af9d1613/groups/00b8856c-9f23-4d5b-aaf2-243cdc4dae55

Here's an old thread on HN that I found to be pretty insightful.
Ask HN: If you are fully/partially remote, would you hire devs in India?
There is so much talk around companies going permanently remote. If that is really the case then what's the need to compete for talent in the Silicon Valley? Keeping aside the challenges due to different time zones, if a person's skill can be validated would you hire developers in India, or for that matter any other country?

QQ - Does Askdata dot in sound like a good domain for teaching people Data analytics/science, freelancing in it and answering their questions etc? Dotcom version is with some SF company & a product I know the indian TLD won't really help in SEO etc, but it's a nice 2 letter one

🚨 Hey Tribe, I was curious whether we should bring back the format of the old zoom calls (in addition to the RI Campfire sessions happening on Saturday). ⚠️ These will be pretty informal and could be compared to watercooler discussions or conversations happening over chai in the cafeteria. The good part is that it’s a more participatory format and we got to know each other a little better. This was the drill that we followed • Have a poll at the start of the week to figure out the topic • Have an open-ended discussion on zoom around the winning topic (consensus-driven) on Friday evening. • If group size is more than 10, then use breakout rooms feature to make the groups smaller. Let me know what you think.

Hello people, I am having a question on using EEFC accounts, if the company is going to pay me using transferwise, does it make sense to open an EEFC account? If we have created GST and LUT, will we need to do anything else if we are using transferwise?

Friends, I am planning to get Jabra Evolve2 40 ( Headset with noise cancelling mic ), does any one have a previous experience of using one especially Jabra Evolve 40 or equivalent ? Is it worth the money ? Evolve2 series is not yet available in India, hence will be ordering from amazon.com, also due to limited budget I have to decide between getting a 27 inch Monitor [ was thinking of LG 27UK650 ] vs Good headset especially for zoom calls... I am not able to makeup my mind between monitor and headset 😂

We are in process of onboarding interns in our company. One of them addresses the team by calling them sir . That felt awkward. I know, where it is coming from, but they need to be told that calling by name is accepted and a better thing to do. Tribe, can you point me to resources that talk on this aspect of communication. Thanks 🙂

Is it a good idea to stay in Kangra / Palampur area for a month in September? We are thinking about one, and have some strong leads about to be finalised -- but kinda worried about floods or landslide situations..
