Hi all 👋 I’m about to sign my first contract . The company is in Canada. What are the clauses I should look for in the contract? . And is there anything I should add in the aggreement to make it legal in india? if you can point me to a sample agreement that would be great.

There are no restriction to go to Bangalore airport anymore right? I am currently in Bangalore but planning to go back to Germany at the end of this month (I have a resident permit so that part should be okay). I was wondering if I need a pass or something in Bangalore to move towards the airport.

Thank you to all the folks who joined today's Watercooler session where we discussed The pros and cons of Online courses. I forgot to take a screenshot but I did take some notes 📝 Here's a summary • The rise of the cohort(community) based learning  • Having a learning budget • Getting from zero to one on a particular topic (80:20 of learning) • Video-based learning has made learning more accessible • Factors in assessing a course • Lack of support if you fall off the pace eg. buddy based learning Interesting websites that I wasn’t aware of • https://www.coursehunter.org/ • https://chingu.io/

Is it tenable to accept TransferWise payments for consulting work? In the past, I have received the occasional one-off payment thru TW. Wondering if it can be used for a longer term (monthly for ~a year). Any legal gotchas I should know about?

Question from Ruby folks here, How can I get trace of methods being called when certain action of a controller is run? I am facing difference in bahaviour of locally running and deployed application. I can debug the local changes by using byebug, but cannot do so on the deployed version, so that’s why thought of getting a call invocation trace to analyse

Hello #tribe I am looking for some help on below points from you all. I am a developer with three years of experience, having worked mainly on backend applications based on Java. In my current company - a tech giant- I am serving notice period which ends this month. Due to circumstances not in my control, I had to quit even as the pandemic is going on. As my next career-jump, I am aiming to transition into working for remote-first companies, a move that I have been eyeing for several months now, also to fulfil my love for travelling which I want to do for long term, working alongside as a developer. In that regard, here are my questions to you people out there: 1. My perception is that, most of the remote-first companies don't have Java in their tech-stack, or at least the job-openings don't mention Java, as much as they mention Javascript or Python. That means, I have to brush up my skills by learning new technologies. And I see that Javascript is fairly in demand. What languages or technology-skills should I acquire to make myself compatible? If it is Javascript, can you recommend me a great project-based learning platform where I can learn Javascript? 2. I am also aware that contribution to open-source is something that remote-first companies value a lot, while I have none. Where should I start from? How should I begin contributing to open-source projects? 3. Any other suggestion you would like to make, for finding a job in a good remote first company? Thanks.

Hello everyone, I got into a grave situation. I hired a packers and movers firm to transfer my luggage from Bangalore to Khopoli(Maharashtra). Due to their poor management, they mis-delivered one bag. The bag contained all my important docs including original marksheets, PAN card, college degree etc. Yesterday when it was delivered, he asked us to return the wrong bag and sign the papers sent. Out of distrust we decided to keep the mis-delivered bag and chose not to sign papers and told him that when we get our bag back, we'll return the other one. Why distrust? Because he promised to deliver within 5 days, it took 15 days. He is extremely rude. When I said, I'll have to file an FIR, he said "Go ahead and do it!". Unfortunately, I couldn't record it because I just didn't expect it, but he can be easily provoked to say that again. Now he is telling that we will have to come to Ghansoli(Mumbai) to return the mis-delivered bag and take our own. I asked him to send a photo of my bag and himself together, so that we can be sure that the bag is with him. He has been delaying it since morning. Haven't received any photo so far. What should I do? Any one knows a good lawyer who deals with consumer grievances?

Hello guys. Which framework would you recommend for a SaaS product with Firestore as backend : angular vs. react vs. vue ? (learning curve, ease of development, availability of talent pool, future scalability are the key criteria). Any pointers would be much appreciated?

Looks like many people experienced issues with Indian entity. But as Abhishek mentioned in tweet, setting up a company in US/Singapore will be overkill for early stage start-ups. Thought to post the link here and get insights from community members who have experience in setting up company in India or abroad. https://mobile.twitter.com/abhishekbose87/status/1296112104110297088

Hello Everyone. When a potential client asks you to work on a module first for free so that he can choose you based on the work done, Do you agree to work for free? or negotiate to have him pay some minimum amount. i just did unpaid work for a week and i regret it. So I’m curious to know how others would handle this.
