https://remoteindian.slack.com/archives/CFKUPJZ7W/p1578145261064600 Hello tribe, Continuing my previous post about choosing between an onsite or offsite/remote job at current career stage. I wanted to share an update that I have finally decided to get into an onsite jobs for atleast a year and come back to remote setup later. Primary factor affecting this decision were the needs for 1. Better and faster exposure opportunities 2. Peer group learning and collaboration 3. Professional community, networking and engagements I was missing on these points in my current remote setup and the exposure was quite limited. I want to scale up faster. I’m moving to Bangalore tomorrow with an aim to accomplish the next big objectives in my profession. I’m looking forward to moral support, practical guidance, tips, suggestions, job leads or anything else that imply to this situation from the community. I’m looking forward to RI meetups in Bangalore. Question - I’ve been appearing for telephonic interviews and working on test assignments for last 1.5 months. Rejection and shortlisting is going on as usual, but haven’t reached the final offer negotiation round yet. The process seems bit slower to me so far. Would my ‘applying-and-interviewing rate’ improve if I’m physically in Bangalore ? 🤔 PS: I’ve already started missing my remote setup and the freedom that remote lifestyle gave me. 😑 PPS: If anyone needs any guidance in planning their travel in Himachal, please feel free to reach my anytime. I can help in deciding places and activities to do. ⛰️

Hey everyone and the freelancers out here, Do you guys use any template for the legal contract document when taking up a freelancing project? If not, what all points do you include in it?

Coping with absence of physical presence of team around you while working In my previous company I with 6-7 people in team there was always someone available to chat with. Be it personal issues, mind block on some task or simple sound-boarding (just to understand something by explaining it to someone) or white-boarding. I personally miss it, in remote setup. • Its lot easier to iterate on tasks that themselves are undefined. It happens lot of times in design. And it requires frequent communication in very short intervals. • Its a lot easier and fulfilling to just pick up some one go, have a cup of tea walk around and come back to desk. I would like to know your experiences and ideas to cope up with it.

The devops talk today at the Microsoft event was a lot of fun! Loved presenting it. And from the laughs I got from the audience, I’m sure they unwound after two really hard days of a lot of information download. Memes help drive the point guys! Totally!

Has anyone transitioned from working remote/freelancing to starting an agency? I wanted to get an idea how different is it then what we currently do. There is definitely more work involved in terms of marketing, sales, finance, design which one person may not be able to do. But what I would like to know is how are these client different? I know companies who want to work with remote engineers but not with an agency so is there something different that's going on here? TIA

💁‍♂️ Request for Startups : Insurance for Remote working employees in India Problem - One loss about losing a corporate employer is the health insurance. Is there a way for us to approach a provider as a group and they can give us a good deal. By good deal I mean getting a cover for our parents/family at a more reasonable price. cc @acceptable-napkin-46622 @tall-advantage-5586 @boundless-vase-76971

With the regards to the poll, I see a lot of responses for "_When will Remote Jobs become reality for Indians living in India, discuss_" option. But I am not sure what is there to discuss about this topic. It feels speculative to me ( and maybe I am totally misinterpreting here 😇 ) Could the folks who voted for that option share some context/specifics about what they'd like to talk about?

(my current CA does it for free since they know my parents. But I am looking to pay and he quotes 25k/year. Not sure if it's too much or okay.)

How Covid-19 pandemic will impact remote work/work from home? When some companies started to use Wfh policy to prevent the spread of the virus. I was thinking it is the only good thing happening right now. But from last few days, it seems that it can also have negative outcomes because 1. Companies are allowing Wfh because there is no other option. They are not doing willingly. Most of these will scrap the policy once the situation becomes normal. 2. There can be an expectation of increased productivity. Because the senior management may have read it somewhere. But with no proper Wfh policies, office setup and the negative news coming from every corner of the world, we can not expect increased productivity. Hopefully, some companies will realise the benefits. And formulate their working policies for remote work. Hoping for the good.
