Isn't the home office environment by default more peaceful than the traditional offices? It depends on the office culture but most office spaces are noisy. Maybe that is the reason people use headphones while working.

yes, always have one dedicated room for remote work.. And yes kids are hard to be stopped at times, but unless u r working under regressive crossover worksmart tool ( which takes every 1 minute pics or every 10 mins for some ) , it’s all fine to have them on call/pics 🙂

Yeah, I hate those modern "open office" spaces. Everyone is constantly talking or making noise and distracting each other. Can't even put on headphones otherwise people say "you are chilling and not working". Very annoying.

I ve been doing freelancing and remote working for more than 2 years and I ve tried both. Working from home and from office. I really feel theres not enough credit on the Coworking spaces. In my case theres not much noise or talking apart from few mins here and there, which is okay. More over, I get to meet different people from many different backgrounds and interact them. Helped me in many ways. As far as home, I look at it differently, I feel training your people at home to remain silent, not watch TV or do anything isnt the right thing as they have their life too. If that disturbs so much, we might as well take a closed cabin in a coworking and work from there for eternity. 🤷‍♂️

Don’t make this complicated. Don’t feel like working at home? Work from co working space. Coworking space not your cup of tea ? Work from home. Maybe try cafe. That’s the beauty of freelancing/remote work. You aren’t confide to specific place.

true and to add more options, work from society’s club house, library, conference hall, nearby public library , work from deserted cafes, roof of your house if there is one and there is basically no limit 🙂

The thing is that working for anywhere sounds good in theory (and is romantic) - but once you are into it, real work happens only from a few places. Depends from person to person for sure - but for me personally, if I am not working out of my home-office setup, I can at max do emails and some clerical work / pay bills / etc. For me to be productive, I need my specific work place. Working from holidays hasn't worked well for me at all. 🤷 YMMV

I have dedicated workplace at home. I have trained my kids not to disturbed me if am in call or in meeting. If they see headphone on my ear they never bother me other times they play around me sometime we do homework and fun activity also. I have asked my parents no extra house work in weekdays which will break routine. And when relatives say you are working from home so you can manage it that time I always reply “Yes I am doing work and it is same as office going person do I have just opt luxury for me to do from home so that maximum time I can be around my family and enough time to my favourite activity. And it is

there is no difference between office work and remote work.

That point is very important -
There is no difference between office work and remote work.
This is something our folks are not yet conditioned to! In most families we're the first generation of remote workers and that causes quite a chasm in people's understanding of the nature and responsibilities involved.

I come from a family that hasnt come to terms with the fact that I DO NOT write java code unlike the other software engineers. They dont understand that as a DevOps engineer, I've got different skills.

Hello Everyone, We had a zoom meetup last week and I remember someone talking about toptal and they're already part of it. I would like to know about interview and work experience. I tried two times, I got failed because of my silly mistakes and I want to crack it this time after few months. @calm-grass-85557 @dry-waitress-7852 @some-city-49619

have you guys seen data scientists / data analyst / BI roles on Toptal too? I also gave the test, but it was completely irrelevant for my skillsets, so stopped and told them directly

For someone with absolutely ZERO experience in JS, and in a way, a sense of loathing for what js is as a programming language, it was fairly smooth! And really really quick!

I just realized another benefit of remote work (really, having some dedicated space around where you are free to speak): You can use voice-based inputs such as dictating a document.
