Several people have asked me about the "growing my own food" bit in my profile. Thought I'd share this "Grow Along" for others who might be interested in learning and are looking for a more guided (and paid) introduction to growing food. I started out as a black-thumb and muddled my way through learning most things over the last 5 years. But I've attended some of Yogita and Karan's online seminars earlier this year and they're really good at walking people through the basics. No affiliation with them. Hey all the students, How was everyone's experience interning remotely during the summers? I remember asking here why there aren't more remote internship and the members replying its difficult to get the same learning environment remotely. But I guess most people ended with up remote internships anyway 😂. For me, while the work during my internship was great, missing out on the social aspects of being in an office was sad 😞 and it was just way too easy to laze out not getting any work done 😂.

I'm simplifying my work setup to be more travel-friendly. I'm into product, UI and UX design and consult for clients remotely. I sketch flows and brainstorm ideas on paper. It always takes a lot of time to digitize them and share with client/colleagues. Being remote makes synchronous ideation that requires free drawing impossible without a touch/pen device. Current gear: Laptop (non touch) Bluetooth Mouse Pen and Paper Monitor via HDMI Cable I think I'll have to get used to working on limited real estate without the monitor if want to work on the go. Anyway. How should I go about this? Some ideas - 1. Stick with current non-touch laptop. Add a drawing tablet that replaces paper AND mouse. (It can function as an input device to laptop.) 2. Stick with current non-touch laptop Add an iPad or similar device (replaces paper). Keep the mouse (because still need an input device for laptop.) 3. Buy a new 2-in-1 laptop / ultrabook that I can draw on. (replaces paper). Keep the mouse for other work like designing in figma. Any other ideas? I'm optimising for savings right now without over-sacrificing firepower I need to do my work.

I learned a really useful life skill in December - touch typing. I think all of us here can benefit from it. There's just a few resources I used to do so - typingclub.com for the actual touch typing training and keybr.com along with 10fastfingers.com to train on random words. (No need to pay for anything you can ignore the subscription prompts on typingclub) Went from ~50wpm looking at the keyboard most of the time to about ~95wpm and not looking at the keyboard at all. Took me about 3 weeks to fully build new muscle memory with an hour of practise each day. I highly recommend it.
