Hello everyone, looking for some tips on buying health insurance for my parents. I put up a request on ET Money and they suggested me HDFC Ergo and Star. Religare is also an option. Has anyone gone through this process in the past? What are things that I should keep in mind before I go ahead with this? I have a personal preference for HDFC because of a mandatory health check up process before granting the insurance and their acquisition of Apollo Munich.

I'm planning to by a monitor for my new workspace. I guess ~24", IPS panel. Any recommendations or stay away from your experience? This is the one I shortlisted but it's not available https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B06XS7NMLZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just sharing a post here regarding what I feel can be done to make workplaces more diverse and inclusive. I am guilty of ignoring and questioning it earlier. Now, that things have started hitting me. I have decided to speak up. Even if it feels so. This post is by no means to show what I have done or I am doing. But, I do wish to see a change in the industry. A bigger ask. If the message resonates with you. Spreading the word, changing ourselves might be step 0. https://dev.to/mridubhatnagar/nevertheless-she-entered-tech-52p2

what audio equipment do you use for zoom calls? I have the Sennheiser 4.40BT headset which has a terrible mic. I have a 2 cheap Sony headsets lying around which also sound terrible and pick up a lot of static noise. I'm so fed of terrible headset microphones that I'm thinking of straight away investing in the Maono AU-A04. I've heard samples on youtube and it sounds great. What do you use for your zoom/skype calls? How does it sound?

I love productivity hacks sharing a few which I know of. Would love to know yours 😄 1. In Slack - Up arrow will edit the last message, very helpful in fixing typos 2. On terminal(Linux) -
    cd -
takes you to the last directory you were in

    1. Slack:
    Shift + Esc
clears all unread notifications 2. Terminal:
    sudo !!
to repeat last command with sudo 3. Similar to `cd -`: git has
    git checkout -
to switch to the previously checked out branch ⚡ 4. Saving a file in vim when not started with sudo:
    :w !sudo tee %

A small caveat with this is these sites sometimes disappear so always have a backup option in case their site is down when you need an onward flight.

i went on booking.com and that landed me to onetravel.com and it always showed confirmed bookiing, took my credit card but not deducted till last moment.. so i had my doubts, then i called their call centre ( which is only a US chargeable number nothing for India ), they said i need to pay 315$ above the previous fixed price to confirm and take seat .. i was like wtf..

I’m looking for a power backup option for couple of macbooks (pro+air+phones). Doesn’t have to be that portable but not looking to setup a full inverter. Someone suggested using a UPS? Does anyone knows how to go about it, I don’t think regular UPS can charge up a macbook pro.

"One of my favorite benefits of automating repetitive workflows is that I can keep my brain focused on the task at hand rather than shifting gears to deal with boilerplate or setup. Especially when the task at hand is creative and brain intensive (like writing a blog post or closing bugs)" "By automating our workflows we can hand over to the computer what it’s been designed to do (and does really well) and focus on what we’re really good at (back to the idea of context there)." My takeaways • One can systemise by writing scripts or SOPs • By automation, one doesn’t need them to run automatically. Manual scripts can reduce the friction too. https://kentcdodds.com/blog/automation
