Random topic.. Am trying to track all my online subscriptions and reduce them. One category is watching entertainment(TV series, movies). ( We gave up DTH close to a year back.) I currently have subscriptions to Netflix, Prime and Hotstar. I was planning to remove Hotstar after GOT but then I realised its’ comparatively cheap and has a good mix of context ( Indian, regional and non Indian). So now this comes down to Prime & Netflix. I am not sure Prime is very useful though I am sure once I give it up there will be that one thing that I will need the next day. However this scenario has been quite rare in the last 2 years. Apart from that ( and of course I still need to see Season 3 of Bosch) am wondering if the only fallout to leaving Prime will be longer delivery timelines. Am also thinking if I should give up everything and sign up only when I have time to view something which is like once or twice a quarter.šŸ¤”

That’s the motorized desk from Ikea. I haven’t checked the store in Hyd but I know a lot of my colleagues use it and it is the standard setup

Yeah, there are 3 different standing desks from IKEA in store. One is manual crank (17K iirc), and 2 others (45, 55K iirc) are electric.

a reliable/tested but not very expensive wireless keyboard recommendation for macboook ? I had purchased a budgets keyboard earlier which had unstable bluetooth connection and it was conflicting with other bluetooth devices. I am seeing Logitech K380 as an option, but not sure of its ease of use? Any help guys ? Looking it in a range of 3k. https://www.logitech.com/en-in/product/multi-device-keyboard-k380?crid=27 PS: I’m fine tuning my desk. Buying an AmazonBasics raiser laptop stand. So would need a separate keyboard too.

I use a k850 with an m720 mouse combo. Best in class imo. Slightly pricier than what’s mentioned above but the keyboard is just brilliant. And you can belt all your frustrations on it without skipping a beat.

Can't comment on bluetooth reliability though. This is the only BT device I have.

My wife is using the K480 from Logitech. It has the dial thingy for 3 device switching which is useful if you want to type stuff on your phone and computer (and maybe 1 more device). She is using it for a few years now and is quite happy with it. This one: https://amzn.to/2Knh0xd

One study found adding 20 minutes to your commute makes you as miserable as receiving a 19% pay cut.

The first section of ā€œRemote: Office Not Requiredā€ shows a lot more statistics on the downside of commuting and how it can be detrimental to personal freedoms and businesses

I can identify with that @calm-grass-85557. Spending more than an hour one way makes me miserable and that’s a given with the traffic these days

Is there any tool or software service offering only(primarily) mediation/fund handling services for the project milestone payments ? Like Upwork projects with guaranteed payments , where client has already submitted money with Upwork and freelancer will get it when the submitted work is approved. Is anyone doing it outside of upwork ? or is there any specific term used for this setup ? I feel this is useful, when I’m asking for advance payment from client before starting a project and client might feel reluctant to do so, specially incase of the first time collaboration. Having such system would keep both parties convinced.

The word you are looking for is escrow. Banks provide escrow services, and are used by businesses. Depending on the industry, for larger transactions escrow is mandatory. I'm not sure if banks provide escrow services for our use case. There should be someone already doing something similar. If not, well, you have a startup idea.

Yeah, In larger companies I've worked with project timelines created in Salesforce which include - Project milestones, deadlines, payments and quality assurance attached to them. However it seemed like it's a custom thing built using salesforce extentions.

There are bunch of them out there (even for freelancers) but none of them stand-outs (and couldn't find something for Indian audience either - most of services work on a small percentage of transaction and currency conversion will kind of throw-off profits or make the service too expensive)

Escrows are typically not cheap, that's kinda expected. It's relatively easy money earned by virtue of trust. Also there are typically lawyers involved to draft agreements and arbitration clauses. Arbitrations are handled by mutually agreed specialists, and costs extra.
