I have deployed puppet agent on 500 windows servers and installed puppet agent successfully. Now, I want to check whether these 500 servers are reporting to puppet master or not. Any quicker way to do that ? FYI: I do have a puppet web Console and puppet master server to check the list of agent.

In auth.conf I change

allow  $1 to *

what is not okay but for testing on test server it works.

I then have a define network:setstatic route:
w/ params $route,$adapter
In this define I have 2 questions:
If I do a $adapter_string = join ($adapter,",") will I get "Network0,Network1"?
How do I access gatewayAddr via the $adapter variable.  Its an array of hash.

it's not an array of hashes right now, it's an array of a string and a hash

you could put an ensure: present|absent on each adapter which would make sure they're all hashes, but you'll need to do some work beyond that

ugh. yes - "Network0" : would have a gatewayAddr too

I default an $ensure='present' in the define. left that off.

then it's $testing['adapter']['Network1']['gatewayAddr']

Hm. I see why I've been circling the drain, because I didn't know what I want. Always a problem adopting someones code. I think I want to pass the adapter hash into a script. Need to try that out. The code won't know 'Network1' so I think I need to use .keys or something

I have a medium sized fleet of EL hosts and puppetserver running Puppet 5 that i want to upgrade to 7. There is no ssh access and don't want to use bolt due to tight network controls. Has anyone undertaken such an uplift and has a method? I think cert location changed on the server-side, and as I don't want to purge certs across the deployment, can these just be moved? Thanks for any guidance!

I'd recommend looking at https://forge.puppet.com/modules/puppetlabs/puppet_agent

puppetserver needs updated first and you'll have to pay attention to how to do that. However, the client agents are pretty easy with that module when you're at that step.

As an alternative I recommend https://forge.puppet.com/modules/theforeman/puppet. That's our best practice for Open Source setup. the module supports Agents and Puppetserver
