@boundless-summer-69195 you mention this is random, do you mean it remains black for the entire session? but not every session can reproduce it? Or do you mean that it goes black at some point during the session? What is the OS/Platform for both the local and remote participant?

No. Sorry for mentioning “random”. It remains black for entire session from the beginning. and it happens everytime for VP9 codec. I am using Samsung TAB A7, Samsung TAB A8 and Iphone XS Max. And the issue is happening on all devices I have.

what is the server look like? are you self-hosting or using Cloud?

hi @boundless-summer-69195, can you try collecting the console logs from both devices? There is another way to locate the issue more easily, which is to publish the video on the device where you publish VP9. on another device with a black screen, do not check fast connect and use subscription-only mode, so that you can see the TX statistics of the VP9 device. ,

Hi @freezing-lifeguard-43174, @dry-elephant-14928, I have figured out what causes this black screen problem. I think SIMULCAST is not working with VP9. When I TURNED OFF the SIMULCAST option then Video call is working perfectly fine, but when I TURNED SIMULCAST ON then again VIDEO CODECS are showing NULL and BLACK SCREEN appears. I have tried this 4 times and the result is same. With simulcast On, video codecs are null and with simulcast off, calling wokrs fine.

That's correct, simulcast cannot be used at the same time as SVC, we'll need to handle this better within the SDK. by making it impossible to get into this situation.

videoSimulcastLayers
for vp9's publish options? I tested that opening simulcast swith in the example app can publish vp9 correctly.

do not enable 
simulcast
option when using vp9.. VP9 is a SVC codec, meaning different layers are encoded into a single stream. You do not need multiple streams with it
