. 2 questions 1. When the page

loads, there are multiple elements that issue get requests with an

hx-trigger="load"

. My problem is that those do not include the

from, to

query parameters from the url, and adding

hx-params="from,to"

doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? 2. When I trigger a date range picker form submission, I'd like many components to listen to that change, but they make requests to different urls, so I cannot group them into one. In my usecase I'd like the components of the page to listen to url query changes, how do you do that with htmx / can you do that?

About question 2 I can solve it with alpinejs reactivity, but maybe there's a simpler solution with htmx

jsx isn't necessarily the best fit because you're getting into rendering on the client

Let me explain: I am using Typescript and I find the concept of embedding a markup language into a general purpose programming language quite nice - opposed to a markup language that includes programming language constructs (like PUG). Obviously this is a personal preference. Anyways it would be nice to write kind of React like components on the server (including all of the HTMX markup attributes) and stream that as pure HTML to the server

fundamentally htmx is just setting event listeners onto elements and then negotiating the ajax call, and the html swap

so you can use whatever you want to use server side

have you seen adonisjs? that sounds similar to what you want (javascript based, server side rendering)

ok seems we are now on same page that we need way to leave page as it is and just act/swap based on oob if no other content present. if non-oob content present then as usual swap target. status code might need to choose like as error code 4xx instead of 204 no content. why not use http error codes instead of success codes. may be oob was not really meant for error response so status code 2xx was choosen. may be time to also handle http error codes.

Hi. n00b here. I am wondering how best to handle the situation where a request may take a few seconds and I want to indicate to the user that something is happening. There is an example of this at https://htmx.org/examples/lazy-load/ but that example starts (when the page loads) by showing an SVG spinner. In my use case, first there is a table, then the user clicks a button and a few seconds later the table gets redrawn. So I don't see in that scenario how to insert a spinner or other UI element indicating the user should wait. I can think of one approach but it seems kludgey so that's why I am here wondering if there is a better way. This approach would be, when you click the button you post to /wait and the server renders a response that includes the svg spinner with hx-trigger="load" and hx-post="/real" where /real is the actual action that takes a few seconds. So in other words, two requests just to indicate to the user that one request might take a while. Is there a better way? Was also thinking of sprinkling in a little javascript (though it might violate the spirit of htmx) that would listen for clicks on my button and display the spinner in the table div, which would then get replaced when the response comes back. Am I missing a better way? Thanks.

Why would you want to use an error code if there is no error? It seems to me that 204 No Content is useful to indicate that as a client you know there will be no body. You are not left wondering if you are missing something. If you send some content back, why not just use 200 Ok?

It feels dirty to me, too. But, from the htmx point of view, it should probably accept dirty input and still do the "most right thing" possible, given the conflicting information returned by the server. In this case, it's probably to use the content provided, even if the server says there isn't any.
