Or did you want you to insert the same piece of HTML in multiple places? In that case I think you'll have to copy-paste the HTML and just give them different targets.
  • e
I'm aiming to do something different than either, really: either append some content to a container, or if content with the same ID is already present, replace it.
  • e
    (thus the "upsert" analogy)
  • e
concretely, if I have a list container (
    #clist
in my original example), and an item that should go into that container, I'd like to idempotently add it
  • e
    Ah I see
  • e
As it stands, I need to keep some state around somewhere to track whether the item has been shipped over yet or not, and change the oob target accordinly
  • e
this kind of semantic looks like it might be pretty easy to implement via an extension actually
  • e
Yeah, as far I know that can't be expressed in plain htmx. That's an interesting situation. I think you could definitely do something with an extension though.
  • e
ehhh, almost, there's some swapping utility funs that aren't included in the internal API that extensions can touch
  • e
I mean, it can def be done, but I'd need to duplicate those utilities or tweak htmx itself to include them
  • e
    very reasonable TODO
  • s
    hi every one
  • s
i am new here and i've got some questions. i have two sections i need to swap with an hx-get attribute, i have been trying it for a while now but it is only swapping one of the sections
  • t
    Are you using oob swaps?
  • s
    no
  • t
Well, you should. That's how you'd swap multiple sections in one go.
  • s
thanks let me try it out, one section is at the header, the other is in the main content and the htmx attribute is somewhere in between, i hope its still gonna work?
  • t
I believe it should work fine, so long as everything as a unique id and you tell the oob swaps where to go.
  • s
okay let me get to it, i will hit you back

  • h
    it's a compliment
  • h
    you're one of us now
  • h
do we have a "reject modernity, embrace tradition" meme for htmx yet
  • m
i must have done one at some point
  • m
    i think I did one for hyperscript/card
  • b
I think it's because many django devs are adopting htmx
  • m
    🙂
  • m
I know, and I am willing to say so!
  • m
the #864934037381971988 folks are absolutely crushing, I see it mentioned all the time on /r/django
  • m
so, yes, htmx did come from the python world, the django world specifically, at least in a figurative sense!
