I've done something kind of hilarious - I've ported chunks of Nim's main backend web framework (Jester) to work on Nim's native JS backend. This means that I can write my backend code, compile it to a JS file, then include that JS file in my HTML. What I've also done is monkey patch the XHR methods to try and look for routes in my Nim code first before making a network request. In other words? I can use HTMX and Nim to make an SPA without a server, purely on the client side. It's like the inverse of server side rendering that React/Vue/others offer. My actual goal with this is have it intelligently compile "pure" routes to JS, where "pure" means that a server isn't needed to generate that HTML. Can be very useful to decrease server load and reduce latency by moving simple stuff to the client.

Some code for anyone that is interested:

js
    <input type="text" name="value" autocomplete="off" hx-target="#base" hx-trigger="input" hx-post="/convert">
    <div id="base"></div>

nim
  router:
    get "/convert":
      resp encode(@"value")

hi

why is my htmx working in local env but not working in my production?

anyone?

failed to load resource

i mean after success on my submission of my form it returns 404 instead of 200

Love it. Reminds me of https://miragejs.com/ from Ember land (though is not Ember-specific these days)

Hey, sorry if this isn't the place for questions. With HTMX is it possible to post the contents of an element, that is not the triggered element? Or am I going to need to bust out the hyper/javascript Example: Click a button that has my hx-post route on it, but the data sent to the server should be the HTML contents of a div elsewhere on the page

Not sure if it'll pass the contents of a div, but sounds close to what you need

don't know how I missed that in the docs, but it was exactly what I was after. Thanks, and praise HTMX

I'm having trouble getting my form to actually submit the value of the submitting button. I searched through discord logs and found that this should work, and indeed there's a codepen that shows it working, but my form just won't. I'm on 1.7.0. At first I tried just addin

hx-boost="true"

to the form, no luck. Converted it to

hx-post

, same result. This is my form:

php
<form hx-post="{{route('hours.store')}}" hx-target="#hour_{{$temp_id}}" hx-swap="outerHTML">
        {{ csrf_field() }}
        <input type="hidden" name="user_id" value="{{$user->id}}">
        <td>
            <select required class="form-control" name="type_id">
                @foreach ($types as $type)
                <option value="{{$type->id}}">{{$type->name}}</option>
                @endforeach
            </select>
        </td>
        <td>
            <input required class="form-control" type="number" name="hours" value="" min="0">
        </td>
        <td>
            <input class="form-control" type="text" name="description" value="">
        </td>
        <td>
        </td>
        <td>
            <button type="submit" name="button" value="add" class="btn btn-primary">Add</button>
            <button type="submit" name="aaa" value="remove" class="btn btn-primary">Remove</button>
        </td>
    </form>

and it works just fine, except the name/value of the buttons is never sent in the request.

It should work. Here you have a simple example that shows it working https://codepen.io/jreviews/pen/PoEJYMX

Yeah, I know it should work, but it no worky. I then tried putting the hx-boost on the buttons with hx-vals, but then the buttons would make an entirely separate request with only their own value

You can use the working example to make it more similar to what you have for troubleshooting

oh fuck me it's because this is a tr inside a table, and forms don't like that

Gotta wrap it in a td and then wrap the inputs in a table

Weird that everything else worked, but not the button values

Even after I set a

form=

attribute on everything. oh well, got it working, thanks.

\> mfw agonizing over the fact that htmx is > 10kb

Just want to say I love htmx!

welcome, that's great to hear luke, we all hope you find it useful!

If a select doesn't have a name attribute htmx will not attach the value to the request. Don't know if that is a given or should be in the docs, but it just held me up for 15 mins 🙂

🤔

It needs one to know what to call it

Most people would probably just assume that and I am a bit slow

on one hand it matches the behavior of forms, on the other hand most people coming into htmx probably haven't written a form submission in ages, if ever

i blame society
