(the django view would need the same parameters for the 3 requests so the form could be identical, while the 3 htmls that would be rendered to replace/update the 3 sections would have different content)

Sounds like option 2, out of band swaps, might be what you want
  • m
Another option would be to check out the morphdom extension, which does DOM reconciliation and merging, at the cost of more complexity: https://htmx.org/extensions/morphdom-swap/

Thanks a lot for the quick reply, very helpful! So in this case, https://htmx.org/attributes/hx-swap-oob/ is it possible to swap the 3 sections (with ids: section1,2,3) simultaneously, something like: Section1 Section2 Section3

    yep

hello. Sorry, pretty novice level at js and new to htmx -- but loving adding it to my django project so far. I'm trying to make a text box that auto submits -- which I've got working. But I want to have a toggle switch/checkbox that lets you switch off the auto submit. I've spent the weekend and am at a loss. some basic code up at https://replit.com/@keizo/htmx-test and I did come across this issue: https://github.com/bigskysoftware/htmx/issues/425 which leads me to believe it's not possible this way. Any thoughts on how to go about it?
  • c
@User If I understand what you are trying to achieve, here is how I'd do it. https://codepen.io/akinmayowa/pen/WNdxQem
  • c
My approach uses the filter feature of
    hx-trigger
to achieve the same result . https://htmx.org/attributes/hx-trigger/
  • b
    omg brilliant. so simple.
  • b
how did I not read that... thank you!

    thanks a lot! 👍 🙂

Hello - with bulk update (https://htmx.org/examples/bulk-update/) is it normal to see the request sent like this? From the references on the website I expected something more like: ids [393,394,395]. I might be doing something wrong
  • f
ok I figured out this form data stuff - in bottlepy: request.forms.getall('ids') >> ['391', '390']
  • m
Yep, unfortunately the API presented server side is platform specific for multivalues
  • r
    dat reach
  • m
    is that a lot?

    is that a lot?

Does htmx have anything for simply hiding an element?
  • t
Htmx is for server-client interaction. For client-side manipulation, try hyperscript

Just another question regarding this @User 🙂 if I only want to swap html inside divs (section1, section2, section3) is there any best practice what to write into the form as hx-target? If I dont write anything the form will be removed which is not good. If I write section1 it works well, but is it a good practice to write section1, if we swap everything using hx-swap-oob="true" anyway?

Hey guys, I am stuck on this one for quite some time now ... Django + SSE + HTMX. TL;DR: SSE sends my HTML with double quotes around. I am looking for the easiest way to make this working: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/71482731/django-eventstream-channels-return-html
  • b
    Hey @User - looks like
    send_event
    has a
    json_encode
option: https://github.com/fanout/django-eventstream/blob/b52c7e494afa93ada9abc36b86c724d90f5690b9/django_eventstream/eventstream.py#L14 Maybe try setting that to
    False
    and seeing if that helps.
  • b
yes, I found this and tried it, but unfortunately the result stays the same 😦
  • b
Boo! In your SO example it looks like the inner text of the html is being wrapped in quotes. Are the h1 tags being stripped as well? Seems like really odd behaviour.
  • b
    no
  • b
they are "there" - I will edit the post again to make that visible

(i thought the pic is enough, but good you mentioned it)
