the response is the HTML to render with the swap
  • m
nono, sorry just missed in here
  • b
and you see the response in the web console?
  • m
i can see the HTTP Request with success code 200 - and i can also see the HTML in the response
  • m
@User and the request trigger works on the set interval. But i can't fire it on load
  • b
could it be that you need to work with get and not with post?
  • a
Could you use https://htmx.org/attributes/hx-request/ timeout to do that. The question would be how you would know it's timed out and you need to put the alternative content in. Hyperscript also has a timeout option on fetch I think

Is it required for server responses to return a
    200
for htmx content to be swapped out? I was scratching my head why an error response wasn't swapping, then I changed the response to
    200
    (instead of
    400
    ) and it finally worked
  • b
Yes, there's a section in the docs about overriding the default error handling via JS
  • m
I tried it with GET and POST - no difference sadly
  • m
i finally got this working by swapping the outerHTML. On fist load i just state
    Copy code
    hx-trigger="load"
And for the outerHTML swapping i send
    Copy code
    hx-trigger="load delay:60s"
in response. this loads on first load and from there on is polling every 60s.

does htmx strip out script tags and style tags from the server?
  • h
I didn't think it did but I"m seeing them removed
  • h
    nm, multiple top level elements
  • h
    just needed to wrap them

this is JSON based but it still shows off HATEOAS really well

if you used html, you wouldn't need to build this UI layer 🙂

Hi guys, I am brand new to htmx. Trying to implement sending the headers Hx-Trigger and Hx-Trigger-Name on a page when pressing a button, but am not able to do so. The headers Hx-request and Hx-target are being sent, but I can't seem to find out the rest and I can't find any answers in the documentation
  • t
Does the triggering element have the
    id
    and
    name
    attributes?
  • c
    it does, yes
  • h
I know this is a 7 🐝 but I would love the docs to show where in the event lifecycle extensions come in
  • t
When you inspect the network request in your dev tools, are the headers just not there?
  • c
    Exactly
  • c
Can't see them on either end. I've been down the rabbit hole with allowing cors headers in django, but that also has not made any difference
  • t
Are you sure you're on the latest version?
  • t
This is a dumb codepen, but it lets you examine the http request and it does show the hx-trigger header for me. Can you check if it show it for you as well? actually nevermind, codepen didn't save what I did because I don't have an account. please hold.

in my haste I made a typo in the username, which I guess I'll just have to live with now.
  • c
Thanks. Yes. I am getting the headers when i inspect the request on that site
  • t
Well, it really sounds like you're on an old version of htmx then.
