That looks like the ideal way of using it. But I need to fetch the data from the server when the user types in something (see their Remote Data example: https://tom-select.js.org/examples/remote/).
  • b
oh, gotcha. That makes sense 🙂

    lmao

I was just reading https://dev.to/tigt/the-weirdly-obscure-art-of-streamed-html-4gc2 which makes me think that htmx would be a good fit to do something similar, but I wonder if there is a timeout mechanism? So you serve html with a hx-get and if there is no response in x milliseconds you swap in some static html that was already part of the page?
  • m
hi guys, i am very new to HTMX. Stumbled across while trying to avoid JS and jQuery in a small Flask application. I really enjoy the concept.
  • m
is there a way to trigger both hx-tigger load and every 60s together in one trigger declaration?
  • b
what do you mean by both?
  • b
    you can do something like
    hx-trigger="load, every 30s, sse:loadnow"
this would - load on load of the document - load every 30s - load in case server sent event would trigger it
  • m
    this ist what i want
  • b
glad I could be of service 🙂
  • m
thanks.. i checked it without comma, which didn't work.
  • m
    thanks a lot
  • b
ah ... I ran into that myself once. I think it is because htmx is quite typescript orientated that sometimes they do not explicitly talk about such things 🙂
  • t
It's in the reference docs, right at the bottom
  • m
ah, thanks. I just tried it and cannot but cannot get it working in my code though
  • m
    id do
    Copy code
    <div hx-post="/check_vpn" hx-trigger="load, every 60s" hx-swap="innerHTML">...</div>
  • m
any ideas, might this be cause by the swap?
  • m
it works if i only code one trigger option
  • m
so i want to trigger once on load and then every 60seconds
  • b
    Copy code
    html
<div class="container"
     id="table"
     hx-get="{% url 'someurl' somevar %}"
     hx-trigger="load, every 60s">
 </div>
  • b
the get request is triggered every 60s this way
  • b
and load is triggered when the page is loaded
  • b
innerHTML is standard, so this is not extra mentioned in here
  • b
(but I believe you can change the standard setting on this one, not sure though)
  • b
does your post send back a response?
  • m
    its weird, when i do
    Copy code
    hx-trigger="every 60s, load"
it continously fires the GET Request if i do
    Copy code
    hx-trigger="load, every 60s"
    nothing happens at all
  • b
do you maybe need another "?
  • b
    hx-trigger=load, every 60s" --> hx-trigger="load, every 60s"
