    Yeah just boost it?

    What did I say about this being a "hey noob" question?
  • i
    Yeah... I just finally read the actual docs instead of people shouting on stackoverflow. I suppose anchors can contain divs now..

    🙂

    yeesh, just got back to my computer and tried it.. why can't I have done that 5 hours ago lol
  • m
    I got sick of copying both htmx and hyperscript around and using jsfiddle's silly xhr support, so I put together a single script that loads htmx, hyperscript and then supports configuring template tags inline to respond: https://htmx.org/demo/
  • m
    Copy code
    html
<script src="https://htmx.org/js/demo-helper.js"></script>
<!-- post to /foo -->
<button hx-post="/foo" hx-target="#result">Count Up</button> <output id="result"></output>
<!-- respond to /foo -->
<script>
    globalInt = 0;
</script>
<template url="/foo">
    ${globalInt++}
</template>
  • m
    you link to the demo-helper and it will install htmx, hyperscript and then set up mock-request.js to scan for
    template
    tags and associate w/ end points
  • m
    feels cleaner than what jsfiddle makes you do
  • g
    This last bit is interesting. What do you mean “to associate w/ endpoints?” Is this specifically for tests? Or is this a feature that could have broader uses?
  • m
    I think it's just for demo stuff

    I am becoming convinced
  • s
    Wonder if this might be somewhat suitable? Seems like a hybrid forum and chat: https://www.talkyard.io/

    Looks pretty cool.
  • f
    Well I can at least speak for myself – Discord is cool– especially for the community feeling and it's fun to chat with everyone, but everything beyond the last 8 messages on most servers (aka everything out of my peripheral vision) is basically non-existent
  • b
    My only issue with forums (fora?) is that old answers can stay popular even if they are out of date. But better that than something hidden in the scrollback. I’d also vote for there being just one place for people to be - Ember JS has Discord and Discourse and it splits people’s attention.
  • f
    That's true. I think the way DataTables does it isn't super ideal, but quite a good start. They have "sub-forums" for each DataTables version.
  • b
    That’s kinda smart. I feel that htmx has a fairly well defined scope and so might not suffer too badly. But who knows what 2.0 will look like.
  • a
    I just hope this community doesn't move to be a FB group.

    for my "htmx playground app" I am considering having the same endpoint return partial content or the whole web page depending on the HX-Request header. Is this the pattern that is usually followed to be able to reuse the same route for the htmx request and a full page reload?
  • h
    rx-redirect does a full page refresh on the client right? Is there something like "load this new page + target body"?
  • h
    so I can redirect w/o losing body state?
  • m
    HX-Push-Url
    response header and maybe the
    HX-Retarget
    response header?
  • h
    That works if I am loading from the destination
  • h
    I have a redirect view that takes a next argument
  • b
    Yep. Depending on your framework you might have the option of a library that helps you check for the headers etc.
  • h
    HX-Redirect= works to force a clientside redirect, but I really want to load next and boost it's content
  • m
    It still sounds to me like what you want to do is issue an
    HX-Push-URL
    and then
    HX-Redirect
    the new pages content into, say, the body
