    Iā€™m using SAML in my app - once the SAML assertion comes through I swap for a session cookie.
  • s
    Since your application that respoonds with html fragments is by definition going to be tightly coupled to the presentation in html it would be a complexity nightmare to have two seperate applications.
  • s
    so as lllama says, once the user auths against the application just issue a session token.

    @User @User Thanks guys.

    HDA - wow that's a snappy acronym! I like it. #hda ftw

    Hail H(y)DA!

    Anyone using htmx with Elixir and/or Phoenix Framework? (Don't make me a channel I'm just checking it out :-p)
  • c
    make him a channel regardless!

    Good day everyone! I need the content to be swapped to be removed as soon as a click trigger event happens. And not to wait until the new content is loaded. How is it possible?
  • b
    @User add some hyperscript
    _="on click put '' into me"

    If you close one HTTP connection, two more will take its place.

    Hello there! I'm new to HTMX. In the Active Search (https://htmx.org/examples/active-search/) example; I would like an empty search to show no results: how can I avoid triggering the request if the field is cleaned (so if the input is empty)? Seems slightly wasteful to do that via request and HTML response of an empty list when I can just clear that via JS or Hyperscript. Or is doing the request and returning an empty HTML the suggested solution?
  • g
    You can add filters to the hx-trigger attribute that should do what you need.
  • m
    you have to ask yourself if the additional complexity is worth it
  • m
    if it is, then you can use hyperscript or vanillajs to clean it up
  • q
    Thanks! That worked.
  • i
    oh okay seems I can add my own filter statements inside square brackets, I'm just slightly confused about what object I'm referring to inside those brackets (e.g. how do I reference the new value's length?) Is that explained somewhere?
  • i
    yeah maybe I'm overthinking it a bit; I just thought since I need no information from the server it shouldn't make another request but it's probably alright if I leave it like this for now.
  • b
    @User haven't tested but maybe
    [target.value is not empty]
  • b
    Or the more english
    [target's value is not empty]
  • b
    @User The htmx trigger doc doesn't make it clear, but I think it abides by the hyperscript rules here https://hyperscript.org/docs/#event_filters
  • i
    hmmm tried several variations of that but none seem to work ([value is not empty], [length is not empty] [search.value is not empty]) etc. etc. I have to go out anyways but thanks for your help I'll keep researching later!
  • m
    You can't use hyperscript within the htmx filter brackets, but you can use
    [target.value !== '']
  • b
    Thanks Alejandros and sorry for wasting some moments of your time dysoco šŸ˜®

    Is there a way to make HTMX reapply itself on a webpage? I have an ajax call which gets data from the backend after the page is loaded. Because of this I think the htmx attributes are not applied to the dom elements because it gets overwritten
  • m
    You want htmx.process(): https://htmx.org/docs/#3rd-party

    As @User already alluded to, perhaps it's time for a #java-htmx channel? I know @User will approve and I'm sure there's more Java folks lurking in these waters šŸ™‹ā€ā™‚ļø šŸ˜ I'd love to hear which Java frameworks folks are using htmx and/or hyperscript with

    How do you manage "inheritance" (in lack of a better word). I want all pages to show a Nav-bar and therefore I would like to include that.
