Ah. Well that’s tricky. Not sure how you get around that unless you can disable that behaviour for Ajax/htmx requests. Or you still test for htmx on the modal page and redirect somewhere else. Not ideal but maybe better than the current behaviour?
  • h
blah this vue thing is trickier than I expected - I want to extend the client side template extension to use petitie vue, but there's no good way in vue to just render a blob
  • h
My current thoughts are - in the extension rather than rendering directly ala handlebars
  • h
create a anonymous component with the template like this: https://github.com/vuejs/petite-vue#components-with-template
  • h
Then check for the presence of a global "app" or create an app and mount to the target
  • h
and then return as a string
    <div vscope="component( your data here )></div>
  • h
so that gets inserted into dom by htmx and then immediately rendered by petite vue
  • h
it's a flip of the normal render -> insert html bock
  • h
Does that sound reasonable? I'm just not sure if there's an easy way to get raw, interpolated html out of a template string w/ vue

@User can I ask you to document a few examples of hx-sync in action?

    Hey Guys quick question?
  • m
Can we do two way data binding with HTMX
  • b
I don’t think so. You’d have to roll your own thing with events. Or you’d have to round-trip everything via the server. Possible but not out-of-the-box like Angular or similar.
  • m
Nope, out of scope. Alpine.js is the recommended accessory for 2-way bindings alongside htmx
  • m
I would like to replace AngularJS with htmx in my application.
  • m
    Thanks guys
  • m
No prob. Htmx is going to be dramatically different than an angular app. We use hypermedia as the engine of application state.
  • m
So it would be a significant rewrite to make that move. 😑

Would appreciate retweets of this and people adopting this term to help spread the word. Also I submitted it to the orange site. Please upvote there if you like the term.

Simple web application is great with htmx. I am just struggling with bigger application where user is authenticate with JWT and role based access, bulk create, bulk update, 2 way data binding etc...
  • g
In htmx, people usually use session cookie instead of JWT
  • m
Then what about SAML, SSO etc...
  • m
Yep. All that is managed server side. It’s a big change. That all can work but it is done server side rather than client side
  • m
W oauth-like flows. Believe it or not, sso existed for a decade before SPAs came along!
  • s
ya since you don't need node to serve the frontend you can remove a layer of complexity, the trick with htmx is not to emulate the previous complexity, but to remove it all together 🙂
  • m
@User I am missing that trick.
  • s
If your server responds with html fragments that update the dom directly, then you don't need a frontend application and a backend application on seperate domains.
