    Hello everyone! I have a quick one about event handling. Docs mention certain behaviors from "cancelling" events -- what's the mechanism by which one cancels an event? Just a
    false
    return? Is there a
    cancel()
    method on the event object?
  • m
    I believe it's
    event.preventDefault()
  • m
    Oh it's just that simple lol
  • m
    I mean that makes sense

    Sorry for the delayed response, got distracted by one of many many things 🥲

    Hi, I have a question about the WebSocket feature. I'm trying to consume a JSON WSS endpoint which I do not control. I was wondering if it's possible to render HTML from the incoming JSON with the client side template extension. I've been able to get that extension working for normal polling requests, but haven't been able to get it working with WebSocket. Just wanted to ask if anyone knows if this is possible before I try to build some middleware to convert the JSON to HTML.

    I have an input field that I want to use for navigation. i.e. whatever is entered as text will become part of the URL. Is there an immediate way to do that, or do I need to bounce off the server with a redirect?

    So is that how know you've arrived @User, when other people starts to build new frameworks on top of your framework? Asking for all the htmx friends.
  • t
    You've "made it" when your framework is buried 5 levels deep into everyone's dependency tree
  • b
    I can neither confirm nor deny that I'm procrastinating on my current project by tinkering with a framework idea.

    I might have some time to work on some more HTMX demos with Java / Thymeleaf / etc. Starting to think that including stuff like Bootstrap is just pushing the complexity wall over the limit. Noticing a bunch of nice small CSS frameworks like Pico. Found this list: https://www.webfx.com/blog/web-design/small-css-frameworks/
  • f
    Any thoughts on which one I should use? Kind of like Pico from a first glance - esp. as it keeps the focus on semantic HTML which seems very much in keeping w/HTMX https://picocss.com/
  • j
    i finally settled on pico as a step up from sakura. we have a surfeit of choices for small css solutions these days. funny that has swung back around. i remember using the W3C stylesheets for the same purpose back in the jurassic.
  • b
    I'll throw https://classless.de/ in the mix as well - I've just tried it today and it's working well enough.
  • j
    ironic that the CSS on this particular site is so bad
  • r
    Pico and HTMX are quite good together
  • r
    Not to shill too much but https://arhamjain.com/2021/11/22/nim-simple-chat.html uses Pico and HTMX (there are a few screenshots). That's using Nim rather than Java but the code should still be pretty readable

    Hey all, trying to use the delay trigger. This code works when I click on it: hello
  • c
    When I change the trigger to delay:0 or delay:1ms nothing happens. Any quick ideas on why that's the case?
  • m
    what are you changing it to exactly?
  • c
    hello
  • g
    https://simplecss.org is pretty good in the classless space as well. I just plastered it on my Django frontend, and not being much of a styler myself, it worked great out of the box!
  • m
    you still want "click" in there
