I have a number input field that I am updating the value with AlpineJS. HTMX is not detecting the change to trigger the server side response
  • k
    I hope that makes sense
  • k
I added the keyup trigger just to get it working with manual entry, however I would like it to trigger on the button press too
  • b
ah - so clicking the buttons is updating
    year
    which changes the
    input
which htmx should trigger on but it isn't
  • b
    Does it trigger with
    changed
    when you enter it manually?
  • b
    i.e. without the
    keyup
    and entering the number manually
  • k
    Yes it does
  • k
If I click the buttons, then the value in the field updates, but not HTMX trigger
  • b
Hmm - could you add triggers to the buttons? Feels like that would work.
  • b
Might be a short-term win until someone with the actual answer comes along 😄
  • k
Would htmx-trigger() be what you mean?
  • k
    Back in 15 mins
  • b
I was thinking to copy the hx-trigger code to the two buttons as well
  • k
Doesn't the hx-trigger need to be on the element with all the other hx tags?
  • k
I got it work by getting AlpineJS to fire off a custom event and have HTMX listen for that event. Thanks for your help @User

I’d be curious to know if there’s something with Alpine’s reactivity that needs plugging into htmx. A person unaware of 7b might suggest an Alpine Discord channel
  • f
No. htmx will look all the way up on all parent nodes for other htmx attributes. It's part of htmx's auto-inheritance.

htmx just adds event listeners, so its possible the event is being swallowed by alpine maybe?

it's an older genre, sir, but it checks out

"I would prefer not to" as a philosphical underpinning of htmx re: modern javascript development

Nothing wrong with taking it easy and not look at it for a while, before snapping like Marak 👀
