    first day of the year give me a brek
  • a
    Ha! I think you might be right @User .. you may need to set both
  • a
    Easy enough to try out. Let us know if it works for you @User
  • f
    That actually fixes the JS widget thing. πŸ‘ So I'd say nailed the 1st day after all
  • f
    Thanks guys & happy new yearˆˆ

    Is there a possibility to trigger a htmx post from a javascript script? Eg. I have a button that exports a document and once it is exported I want to trigger the htmx
  • g
    yes, absolutely.
  • g
    look at
    hx-trigger
    -- it will listen for any javascript event, and then trigger the hx- action on that tag.
  • g
    So,
    <div hx-post="/server-url" hx-trigger="myCustomEvent">
    works great. Does this answer your question?
  • l
    Hey @User, thanks for your fast response! That looks very interesting indeed. With "MyCustomEvent", this would be something like the following in my Js, right?
    Copy code
    const myEvent = new Event("MyCustomEvent");
document.dispatchEvent(myEvent);
  • g
    Yes, that looks right.
  • g
    There's also a public htmx method that might save you a little code. You can also use
    htmx.trigger("MyCustomEvent")
    if you want.
  • g
  • l
    ok, wow. This is awesome!
  • l
    First I was a bit suspicious about server-side rendering aspect of HTMX, - you know "don't mix front-end with back-end" but... love the simplicity compared to the full-fledged js frameworks and their dependency-hells πŸ˜„
  • g
    Yeah. Design principles (like separation of concerns) exist for a reason, but they can become a religion and be taken too far. If you reframe the issue as not about "front end" or "back end", but in terms of REST design principles ("Hypertext as the Engine of Application State") it makes a lot more sense.
  • g
    Besides, if your back end is fast enough, then you can't really tell the difference. And (to quote Westworld) "if you can't tell the difference, does it matter?"
  • l
    to quote westworld is epic hahah
  • g
    You'll find that this discord (in particular) is full of a lot of very silly memes. It makes software development much more fun.
  • l
    love it! Also, if Microsoft (nearly) get's away with storing dates as int's, I think I can live with mixing a bit backend and frontend πŸ˜„
  • m
    many such cases!

    I'm thinking about syncing
    Giraffe.Htmx
    's version with the version of htmx that it supports. I've also added code to
    Giraffe.ViewEngine.Htmx
    that will load the minified or unminified versions from unpkg, so keeping the library versions in sync would mean that 1.6.1 would support (and pull) htmx 1.6.1. Any thoughts? Downsides I've missed?
  • m
    i've seen that pattern before, seems reasonable

    / SEAL / feels like the htmx of the investing world. A super simple investment instrument to nuke and simplify the world of complicated investment instruments.

    Been enjoying that twitter account in the same way I enjoy the htmx account.
