I have used nitter quite plausible

twitter without JS written in Nim, pretty solid/popular project

I'm going through the HN thread on the essay > I don't mean to belittle anyone, but libraries like htmx are rather primitive compared to tools like svelte. What makes them see themselves so important? > "Simple" is disparaging and "sophisticated" is high praise.

🙂 it has been a very funny day

I also love the one where a guy warned you not to create a language... And then you responded saying you were 😅

🙂 if I did not already believe in providence, today would be giving me pause

the tweet that cheesed Mr. Harris off, I thought it was rather funny but, as they say, no accounting for taste

I'm going to assume that most sane developers don't hang out on this Discord, and aren't familiar with our meme-based economy. It's fair to assume that he thought he was being trolled at this point.

you mean to tell me there are developers unaware of this discord?

are you sure about this?

ah, sane developers, I see, yes, rather

Imagine you're a serious developer at a serious company, doing real work to improve the internet, then someone comes along and says that your latest presentation on Real Development™️ is wrong, and you should switch your intricate build system to a Brainfuck based library. https://esolangs.org/wiki/Brainfuck

I would say "good day" to them as well.

😑

🙂

today was a lot of fun folks, thank you all

I laughed at that tweet. To be completely fair to most of the folks that don't like HTMX - a lot of them don't seem to understand what it is and how it (can) work. A few assume you need a server to do anything (you don't, though that's how do logic). A few assume that you're supposed to write all "business-logic" in the HTML (you don't that's when you need server-side logic). A few asked where you'd store state - in the DOM when you can, as they did in the 90s . Others assume that HTMX can't do progressive enhancement, because it replaces HTML. It doesn't, it just extends it. I know I'm writing this out to the wrong group of people, but even I feel mildly infuriated reading some of these responses, and I've got the least involvement.

Meanwhile, we're all here like:

everything becomes much funnier when you realize the situation is hopeless, but not serious

sometimes, ben, i feel like you might not think i'm being entirely serious about things

"... as they did in the 90s..."

that's what my dad told me at least

crazy to think he was my age in the 90s

Oh no, I always know you're being serious. Just not beholden to the Javascript oligarchs. Why else would I spend so much time here?

On a slightly more serious note, I do think that the most valid criticism of HTMX/Hyperscript is that there aren't really good medium-scale examples that are blessed by the community. Granted, not sure if Svelte/Vue have these, but I know that I consider Miguel Grinberg's flask blogging tutorial to be the holy grail.

I really do like what @User is doing with the snippets in his Github repo though, I've got a few smaller hyperscript components I'll try throwing in there

can we as a community come up with a silver bullet response to the tired argument of 'htmx can't do accessibility'

where we define accessibility as native HTML or being able to use a site without JS?
