    I forgot to remove it
  • m
OK, let's see what happens when you remove that
  • s
    Bingo, now it works
  • s
    Thanks!!

Another question, can you update the hx-post attribute with jQuery? For example, I have a form that can Update and Create. When a user clicks on an "Update" button, a modal with the form appears, and jQuery changes the hx-post attribute of the form to the correct URL. I have tried it, but the form is not submitting. Even though in the inspector i see the HX-post has been updated
  • s
Ok it does work like that, just got it to work 👍
  • s
    It does not work
  • m
    Unfortunately no, not currently
  • m
what are you trying to achieve?
  • s
I use Django, I have a form that is shown in a modal. When a user clicks "Create", the modal/form is shown and the form is updated with the correct hx-post. When a user clicks "Update" the modal/form is shown and the form is populated with data and correct hx-post.

I could render 2 different forms in the HTML, but it's pretty annoying to render 2 identical forms on a single page in Django
  • g
You could have the forms on different URLs and fetch them dynamically, just a suggestion
  • s
What do you mean by "have the forms on different URLs"? Do you mean render multiple forms with different URLs?
  • g
    GET /orders/create-order-item
returns HTML for a create form
    GET /orders/update-order-item
returns HTML for an update form
  • g
Both post to their respective endpoints
  • s
Oh I see, fetch the form with HTMX when somebody presses the button. Yeah that could work, then I would also not have to populate the "Update" form for with Jquery, but I could populate it on server side
  • s
Also the page would load faster because it would not need to unnecessary fetch the form to start with
  • s
    Super, thanks for the tip!!

    # python pseudo code def my_view(request): response = requests.get("https://third/party/api") render("template.html, context={"results": response}) # template pseudo code {% for result in results %} {{ result }} {% endfor %}

if I hx-get from inside a form, i noticed that only the raw path is used, htmx doesn't attempt to put parameters into the url. I have a search box that I want to use as a form so GET makes more sense, so the URL can be populated and shared. Has anyone had this use case and any advice if so? Is there a way to put the parameters into the url?
  • b
sorry I was "unclear" in my question. I meant if you know of any example code using DRF-HTMX
  • b
    like a git or something
  • m
    when you use an
    hx-get
    combined with an
    hx-push-url
it should put the parameters up into the navigation bar
  • a
What im saying is that your case just would use vanilla Django templating
  • a
Unless there's something I'm missing that my pseudo code doesn't address to solve your case
  • b
yes this is what I am doing right now. Just wondered if there is a simpler approach using django-rest-htmx but I did not succeed in making it work (yet).
  • b
your pseudo code is fine 🙂
  • b
    thanks!

This puts the url of the get
    /search
but i guess i might need to do something different to make the url populate query string
    /search/?q=<form inputs>
