Hi! I'm very interested in using htmx and am playing around with it a bit lately to figure out whether it suits me and my colleagues. So far I really like it! My current concern however is caching slow responses. Just recently I had to implement a GUI with a ton of knobs and buttons and a canvas to render results. The calculation of the results were sever side, but to make the experience more snappy, we cached them in the client, so a user would always see a cached version of an already requested result. Was more complicated than that but you get the drift. As I see htmx does not provide this out of the box, but one would solve this by writing an extension correct?

The usual solution is to use the caching amenities built into HTTP (cache-control, etag etc)

Good day! I am using htmx to work with a backend I cannot fully control. That's why I am facing this problem. I got a hx-post attr set. But the url sometimes initiates a 302 redirect with GET method. And in fact the contents of that final page after the redirect is what I need. But htmx seems to look only at the first page, before the redirect, without any content. Is there a way to tell it to look at the final page instead?

Great to know that. But it does not work in my case. Could it be 'cause the redirect is GET not POST? Or maybe I am getting it all wrong and something else messing things up. Could you take a look on the screen. I am trying to debug with

htmx.logAll();

Compare the request with the redirect to the one without the redirect. I can see that in

htmx:beforeOnLoad

event and in

htmx:beforeSwap

the

property of the main object is not what it should be, but rather a wrapping element of what it should be.

Small javascript worked for me : window.onbeforeunload = function(e) { return 'xxxx'; };

For HTMX Boosting is is a bad idea to put

hx-boost="true"

on the body tag itself? Or in the main layout template so all anchors get boosted? Can

hx-boost="false"

be used to remove it from a specific template?

I don’t think it’s a bad idea. And yes, you can turn it off by adding hx-boost=“false” when needed

I haven’t used it myself, but it SHOULD work.

hx-trigger

just listens to any standard browser event. So if your browser can send that event, it should work as a trigger.

If there’s an error connecting to your server, htmx will trigger an error event. You’ll need to use Javascript (or hyperscript) to listen for these events.
