Really? I have never used flask, but I think creating html fragments is easy with flask, too. Could you please explain the difficulty?

Oob is probably your best bet. You could also consider using the

hx-trigger

response header to send an event with your first http response, then listen for that event with the

hx-trigger

attribute to kick off a second response.

It works really nicely, but it does require two http requests.

Yes HTML fragments is easy, but I was thinking about good patterns for combining different fragments. Usually I return a single fragment (a .html-file) for a specific part of the site. But sometimes I would like to return multiple when updating different parts

Thank you, yes I think oob is best for me also. But the good thing about hx-trigger is that I can keep those HTML fragment-files separated for each section. OOB forces me to merge different fragments, but I don't know how I should do it in a good way. The question isnt about if it is possible to do it, it's more a question about a good pattern.

Maybe it is the same thing where I am not 100% happy up to now. Image I have a method which creates the a tag. This method gets used in several places (first usage: creating the whole page on the first request, second: after pressing a button on this row. Third: oob (because something else changed)). For the third case I need to get the hx-oob attribute into the html. But I don't want to give the method for creating this table row a new argument oob (which would default to false). I am missing a way that you have an oob container/transport tag. So that only the inner html of the container tag gets inserted into the page. @helpful-computer-36278 does above text apply to your situation? Btw, you said "oob forces you to merge fragments" I don't understand this. One http response can contain several oob tags.

Question: I have a form that has input fields that are masked by a JS lib. On submit, I need to remove the mask and send the raw values of the fields. Since I'm submitting via htmx (hx-post), where the code to replace fields values should go? htmx:beforeRequest? htmx:beforeSend? BTW, whats is the difference between these two?

@User alexandrejacques Are you not able to have the raw values present in hidden inputs so you can send those without any additional on-submit logic?

to modify the parameters sent in

I read above dialog and think that there is maybe a naming-issue. If I read "config", then I think of something which gets done once during startup of the application. So the name "configRequest" is maybe a bit misleading. At least for me it does not sound like something which gets done for every request. Maybe "buildRequest" or "alterRequest" would be more obvious?

I really thought htmx:beforeRequest was the htmx:configRequest. Then I saw that beforeRequest does not have access to request params.

is the most commonly used event, in order to set up the request the way you would like

i made a codepen with a bug in htmx .. the issue is that if a request is in flight and another ajax request is queued then the target context is not respected and it defaults to the body https://codepen.io/guardsmanpanda/pen/JjNrjLw

you can see it in action by deleting one of the ajax reqeusts or inserting a delay between them

after looking at the code i can't exactly follow what is happening but the endRequestLock on line 2213 in htmx.js looks suspicious.

which means to get a button to open a dialog form i can just do this <button onclick="dialog('/game/create/form', 'Create Game')" ....

makes it super easy to make admin panels and things where i want to inline forms 🙂
