    I have a list view, which contains a few items added by code. Each item has a field called "icon" which is the path to the image to be used as an icon

    nah, css is just for styling... if you want to get super creative you can create custom item renderers

    to hide the rest of the image

    Sorry for not sending it before, it turns out I changed something and it started to show the background-image, and I couldn't reproduce the 'issue' again (which was likely to be a mistake by my part)
