Hi there! Just replicated the same behavior locally (created a branch with gt and opened a pr, closed the branch, and reopened a new pr for the branch from gh UI) and ran into a similar issue/bug - looks like on
gt rs
gt detects the branch has been closed and prompts you to delete it, and when attempting to track the branch again it says
ERROR: could not find branch
@Jacob Gold is currently OOO but might know what's going on here/be able to deploy a fix, in the mean time I don't think this is currently possible 😞
a
Correct, that’s the exact steps to repro
@Jacob Gold I was wondering if you had any insight into this and how we can fix it? It's really inconvenient for our workflow. Do we need to close our PR and open a new one through the graphite CLI to fix it?
p
Opening a new one in the Graphite CLI should fix it
a
Okay, thanks. Is there anything I can do to help you guys get to a fix? Or are you good since you can repro it yourselves?
p
I think we should be good! Thanks a bunch for all of this debugging context πŸ™‚
I'll let you know if anything changes/someone knows a fix
a
Thanks! We closed each PR in our stack and then submitted fresh and everything seems to be lining up properly now.

gt branch track
only works for branches that exist locally (it doesn't hit github at all), so once the branch is deleted locally it won't work anymore. This is a good idea for an improvement, I suppose β€” prompt to do a
downstack get
if the branch isn't found locally.
Thanks for the feedback, glad you got unblocked
a
downstack get
didnt see the fresh PRs, and I didn't locally delete my branches
