Looks like we all agree that the environment is at the bottom of the list.

Shocking. I'm trying to interpret the numbers though. @mysterious-tomato-10057 how was this survey taken? And what do the percentages represent? The percentage of people who thought it was an issue at all? I imagine the answer to the first question will clarify the second

They add up to over 1000% in the first column, so I'm guessing they asked people which ones were important and they could check as many as they wanted to

Yeah I am not convinced it as a survey that was well run but maybe

Environment seems like a weird inclusion in that list. Everything else seems specific to our community, and that's a far more general problem (for those who are concerned). Why include environment but not, say, the state of healthcare? Or infrastructure?

We don't use single use plastic in my home and I got my shul to switch plastic spoons for coffee with single use wood spoons. So some of us care!

Yeah I'd say I care about the environment and think that there's a problem. But if I had the list of problems listed above in front of me, and had to rank them as communal problems, I'd still rank it last because I don't see it as a "communal problem"

Same.

I grew up in a house where letting the faucet run was a crime (and not because of the water bill). I was fairly shocked by the frum community's general apathy when I became frum. I think generally it starts from a matter of prioritization, which is understandable, and develops into general apathy/disdain. That combined with when it becomes an article of faith of the society around us.

Also the other problems on the list are much more immediate or in our faces. Like, how are we going to pay tuition this year. Or what are going to do about all these people that we see in shul who are single. Etc. Whereas the environment is something that its possible to push out of our consciousness because the risks are not in our faces or immediate
