going to by a used car soon (iyh) all cash. Should i get comprehensive insurance? Part of why im getting a new car is because the old one was crashed into and I didnt have comprehensive and is still taking a while to get a payout.

Play with the deductibles to see how the premium changes (for all aspects of the policy). I've found that going from $500 to $750 on collision is well worth it. Comprehensive depends on how they handle glass.

What's the cost of the car? And do you have funds to replace it again if needed? If you can afford to self insure you often come out ahead. I have an older car and I don't carry comprehensive or collision coverage since it’s not worth it.

When my cars get old, I usually drop collision but not comprehensive. Comprehensive is generally much cheaper and covers things like windshields and falling branches
m
It's much cheaper because it’s much less likely to occur.

And/or damages tend to be less. The expected value of payouts is lower.
