If I have a term life insurance policy in America, does anyone know if I can take that with me to Israel when I move there? Or will I need to cancel the policy and buy new life insurance there?

I was switched to a health plan from my employer with an FSA. I don't know anything about how FSAs work, what do I need to know to get the most out of it?

I live in Baltimore and just got a new job that doesn't come with health insurance, so am trying to "shop around". I am being offered BlueChoice HMO Open Access for $1800/month (which already includes govt subsidies) or $2800 PPO plan. The PPO plan sounds insanely expensive. The HMO plan is more affordable but doesn't cover almost any out of network expenses. I keep hearing about United Refua, which would only be like $500/month. To me the United Refua is a no-brainer, but I don't know anything about it. šŸ˜„

I just received a medical bill from an ER visit I had last summer, totaling over $6,000. The visit was only a few hours long—I had an ultrasound and then waited for over four hours for a doctor to review the results. After waiting for so long, I decided to leave and took the printouts of my results to my own doctor the next day because I was feeling fine by that point. However, the bill includes a substantial charge for a physician’s consultation, which I never received, as well as a charge for an IV injection, even though I was never hooked up to an IV. I’ve disputed these charges twice, but both times the hospital denied the claims and insists that I did receive these services. Has anyone dealt with something like this or have advice on how to fight it? Additionally, when I arrived at the hospital, I was asked to sign a document stating that if I didn’t have insurance, the maximum I’d pay would be $2,500. So how is it that, since I do have insurance, I’m being charged $6,000? I never would have provided my insurance card had I known this. Is it possible to change my status to a self-pay patient at this point?

Has anyone had experience stacking life policies - e.g. if I can currently only afford $500k coverage but I know I’ll need much more down the line, does it make sense to buy that policy now and get another when I can afford it? Or should I reallocate to cover what I think I’ll need (would rather not do this - most of my ā€œextra moneyā€ goes to paying down high interest CC debt)?

anyone have a ballpark of what health insurance (high deductible is fine) in MD for a family of 7 would cost (buying from the marketplace, not through an employer). Assuming no subsidies. I'm just trying to game out different scenarios and I am having an impossible time getting actual numbers

is LTD insurance at all an option for middle age entrepreneurs? where I tried agent told me dont even bother if you have the slightest issue (obesity, etc) as they are a lot more concerned of course about LTD claims than death claims so underwriting is a lot worse. I have yet to see one person with LTD insurance (except those small and worthless policies offered by employers sometimes)

I hope it’s OK to ask two questions today. I am looking for a life insurance broker for my husband and myself. My husband does have a new condition. I cannot navigate this issue myself because it’s making me nervous. Can anyone recommend a reliable/trustworthy broker that will not take advantage of us?

Wondering if anyone has experience with something like this. We bought a house (with a mortgage) a little under 2 months ago. We were told by our agent to push off the insurance inspection as much as we could, as the house was in need of renovations and we would be doing them as soon as we closed. We did "too good" a job pushing it off, and we got a cancellation warning that it would be cancelled Aug 4th because the inspection wasn't scheduled. We then scheduled the inspection to take place on August 4th, which happened. In the meantime, the insurance company cancelled in the insurance because apparently the inspection needs to be uploaded in their system to retract the cancellation (even though the letter only specified that it was cancelled because the inspection had not been scheduled) We spent the week trying to get it reinstated, only to find out at the end of the week that the inspection had failed, and under normal circumstances, they would give a warning period, but since the insurance was already cancelled, they would not reinstate. We don't really want to go the force placed insurance route (for obvious reasons), but it's going to be tricky (/expensive) to get regular (and in this case, regular really means surplus, I think) insurance. There's hopefully only 2 more weeks until the renovations are done, and then it should be extremely straightforward for us to get regular insurance. Is it worth it for us to get the surplus insurance? Will the lender definitely put the force placed insurance on us? As of now, they are still showing that we have coverage (even though we don't). I know there's something about a 45 day notice prior to billing for force placed insurance, but no one has been able to tell me if that's just for billing (and they will definitely retroactively charge me for the gap, just after a 45 day notification period), or they will only start charging me after 45 days, and if I get regular insurance in the 45 day period, they won't charge me at all.... (sorry for the megillah!)

Hi all, I currently have Statefarm auto insurance and it's costing me $380/mo, which I think is exorbitantly expensive. I would like to switch to something less costly. I've heard that Geico is good, but I've also heard that their coverage can be stripped down. I've gone through their quote workflow online (great UI!) and their quote came out to like 190/mo which seems more reasonable. Never shipped around for car insurance though, where's the best place to start?

Hi, Currently deciding between a high deductible plan and PPO for medical insurance. Pretty sure I understand the differences, pros/cons etc, but I keep seeing advice (or people's experience) that it makes more sense to go with PPO if you have a family. BH we are a family of 6, but am still leaning towards HDP - the difference in premium between that and the PPO is ~$3000. I understand that my OOP costs will be higher, but won't I have more cashflow since less will be going towards the premium? In the past we've had moderate usage, which indicates to me that in a low usage year, we would come out ahead, and in a higher usage year, we would be spending around the same as we would for PPO. (With the additional benefit of the HSA...) Anything I'm missing when thinking about this? Is the advice to go with a PPO for a family more of a psychological one than anything else?

A family member was at fault in a minor accident over the summer. The car’s bit banged up but still drivable. The other driver didn’t report anything to insurance, but family member did go to the hospital for monitoring (everything okay, bh) and got a $500 bill. There was a police report filed at the time. At this point, would you report it to insurance so they cover the hospital bill and fix damage, or just pay it out of pocket and move on?

A family member was in a no fault accident a few days ago and my van was totaled. (Chasdei Hashem, everyone is more or less ok) I am hearing conflicting opinions on whether to make a claim through my insurance (and they will have to resimburse themselves by going after the other insurance) or if I should make a claim directly to the other insurance. My questions are as follows: 1. Is there a bigger chance that my premiums will go up if I go directly through my insurance? 2. Should I expect the reimbursement process to take longer if I go through the other drivers insurance? Also, should I be asking any other questions or can anyone offer any other advice? TIA
