https://github.com/mintapi/mintapi You can write a simple script to download historical transactions. I do it daily. Also if you're like me and you used Mint just as an easy way to aggregate your accounts, you can do the same thing in YNAB (for a fee obviously, but if you're already using it...). This is what I plan to do; until now I've only been manually entering transactions into YNAB - to be more intentional about my spending.

That's great advice! If ynab did other types of accounts like investments and home, I would definitely do that.

this is sad. I don't think I have the mental energy to move to another platform for this, but aggregating transactions is a key part of my budgeting method.

I am seriously considering switching to Quicken after this, my accountant has been hounding me to do it for a while. It will save me money on tax filing fees I pay him every year.

For anyone who is considering moving to RightCapital (https://frum.finance/planning)(frum.finance will pay all the licensing costs), now that mint.com is shutting down, here are some notes that might help in considering it. 1. Security and privacy policies are documented 2. It has significantly more features than mint.com 3. It is one of the top most popular financial planning softwares. I believe number 2 or 3. 4. They are regularly, like every 2 weeks, releasing updates and features. 5. You decide whether frum.finance has access to your transaction level data. You click "hide my transactions" from my financial planner to block our access. An image of this setting is in the thread. We do by default have access to account balances. If you don't want that, go to step 6. 6. If you want to use the software, and want frum.finance to be completely not involved and to not see your data or offer any guidance, just let me know and I can categorize your account as a self directed account so we don't look at it. Do you see the list of integrations? I'm sure one of them exposes it via an API, but I'll email right capital now about a direct API. Frum finance gets dedicated support team 💪

PersonalCapital used to look like a decent mint alternative. I just looked it up for the first time in a while an apparently its now empower.com ? Looks like they really under market the tool now which leads me to suspect that its not supported as well as it used to be

It also leads to you getting a lot of sales calls, but it is still a good tool, but again the same issue of a free product being help by a massive company who doesn't really make money off the free product with disincentivized support

Empower wants to be your wealth management which is a paid service. they use the free service to get your data to market to you about what services they can give you. I'm actually not bothered at all by that app / process, but just want to make others aware
