Good to know. Though it highlights the fact that one should use technology as a tool and cannot complete rely on it. Even on Google Maps. Agree, it's a great tool for a quick check, or different format conversion, or assistance with writing/coding, etc. I wouldn't quote it as a source of information though because it can make up things.

It is a good idea to sanity check ChatGPT for sure, just like i still do with google maps when i plan a trip.

We also sanity check google when sorting through many responses, considering we are reading posts that are created by human opinion.

Of course there are alternatives. but they wont ever rival google maps usefullnes. I dont even use it for car navigation most of the time. It works perfectly for public transport too. Also google streetview is amazing for anxious people like me that need to see what an area looks like before going there 😂 im sure im not the only one. Probably the same group of people that googles numbers that called them 😅

I think the point i am making is there are alternative options for google maps that while they may not offer the glitter and all the features that google maps does, they still offer the main functionality of a mapping system that was intended. The same will go for other AI projects I’m guessing. There will probably be one or two that are the ‘best’ and full of features, and then open source projects as well as less popular ones. Look at midjourney, the best, but, many other projects still do a great job too (dall-e, stablediffusion)

I wont argue with that. in the end. the winner is us. freedom of choice. need an anonymous maps alternative? there probably is something out there for you

The stuff that google did. only google could have donem Imagine mapping entire cities on every continent with 360° cameras. and then even prepping the data. making sure all faces are blurred etc. Insane imo
