I was trying to say that if crypto goes mainstream the way of processing corps picking them up alongside of visa/Mac/Amex, most likely they will need something in place to enable spending of crypto quickly at POS devices. Whether it be lighting, hydra on cardano, other layer two solutions, etc…

I agree there are issues w lightning, its not perfect but must be studied if we want to make the tech any better imo

you can turn mistakes from protocols into security precautions and such

My guess is some will try their own digital coin or token and an easy way for you to convert to it. I don’t think we’ve really thought about how hard these guys will grasp for power and control once they can’t ignore crypto anymore.

If you thought meme coin rugs were shit, wait till visa blocks your bag of VISAcoin because you spent it on an unapproved transaction or location.

I agree, but I think we also need to question if such solutions are reasonable at all. Maybe scaling the L1 is a better solution after all? To me it seems like the UX with Lightning is quite complicated and the design introduces a lot of centralization and trust. Imho it should be as simple as possible for the users to transact to achieve any meaningful adoption.

I agree but I think scaling l1 will be approached differently, I have my own ideas about how it may be done but its highly theoretical. And they are just people on telegram that the bridge relays

One thing crypto folks tend to forget is that simply being able to send money to someone else, anywhere in the world, for pennies, more or less instantaneously is an unbelievable improvement over the existing system. It still takes ACH transfers five days. Stock market transfers on centralized servers three. And there are still financial markets where 9-10am and 3-4pm are the busiest time a day.

The question is how can we scale so that this experience is available to the large amount of people.
