Why do people keep recommending Joe Pulizzi? Does anyone else find his work boring and narcissitistic?

I found Content Inc to be very influential on me early on in my career but I’m not sure how much it holds up and I haven’t been too impressed with CMI’s work since (not that I read everything so grain of salt)
