I am in the midst of an interview process that is going SLOWLY. First screener was a month ago. Then they had their company offsite for a week and then next week I had an interview with the hiring manager. The week after an interview with their team. The final interview was set to be an interview with the VP and the hiring manager. Only the hiring manager is out on vacation until then end of next week.
I emailed the company yesterday to say that I was interested in learning more about the assignment the hiring manager told me I would have to do for the final interview. While I haven't heard back yet (and I don't know if the hiring manager shared the assignment with recruiters before leaving on vacation), the company just reposted the position today. I'm not sure if this means that I'm not being considered anymore? Or if they are just worried that other candidates --- including me--- might be hired away before they finish the process and are looking to keep a candidate pool ready? It's a bit of a puzzle because everything went really well so far in interviews with the manager and team.

I wouldn’t read too much into the role being reposted. Often right hands don’t know what left hands are doing at orgs, or roles will stay posted as a policy until a hire is made. Hold your cool, follow up, reiterate interest and just trust the process (it’s summer, everything slows down). If they have moved on and didn’t tell you after this many rounds, you don’t want it anyway imo!!

@limited-jelly-47085 Thank you for this explanation! And, of course, they just called me to say that I'm a finalist, the last interview went really well and the interviewers had great things to say, and they just need to wait for the hiring manager to come back to finish the process. It's 100% a summer thing. As you suspected.
